A Study Of The Outlook On Children During The Republic Of China

The period of the Republic of China was a special period of transformation in Chinese history.It ended a long feudal autocratic society.Under the influence of the active exploration of intellectuals and the eastward spread of Western learning,the May Forth Movement and the New Culture Movement promoted the "discovery of children" in Chinese history.Under this historical background,this study relies on Children's special issue of Shenbao and Ta Kung Pao to analyze the Children-view of the "golden decade" of the Republic of China,trying to present a more comprehensive view of children at that time.Based on a detailed description of the development process,editors,author groups and newspaper positions of Children's special issues of Shenpao and Ta Kung Pao,this study adopts the method of combining content analysis with text analysis.Firstly,the genre and theme of Children's special issues are analyzed.The results show that the Children's Supplements of Shenpao and Ta Kung Pao are mainly composed of prose and novel stories.In addition,there are some articles,the genre of which are children's news reports,children's diary letters,children's games introduction,popular science knowledge,and a few children's poems and nursery rhymes,children's drama,riddles and jokes.The themes of the two Supplements are basically the same,including children's quality,habits,patriotic education,scientific and humanistic knowledge,children's games and life,etc.Secondly,the contents of Children's special issues are analyzed in depth,and we found that based on different class positions,different groups have different understanding of children.Government officials and newspaper editors regard children as builders of the country and revitalizers of the nation,intellectuals regard children as players,scientists and creators,and believe that children shoud be clean and healthy people,and shoulder the responsibility of popularizing knowledge as knowledge transmitters.while parents still interpret children as "little adults".In various cultures and education,children have different understandings of themselves.On the one hand,they strive for "children's rights".On the other hand,they endeavour to be "the countries' Builder".In this period,the views on children presents the characteristics of diversity and complexity as a whole.At the end of this study,the author analyzed and discussed the influencing factors of children's outlook from the perspectives of politics,economy,historical development and ideology and culture.And summarizes the characteristics of children's view in the republic of China period,this period of children's view shows the characteristics of diversity and complexity,and affected by the social background,the social standard of the narrative about the children's standard to cover the narrative.This also gives us some enlightenment that the enlightenment of any modern discourse needs the support of certain social conditions.Even to this day,the road of children's enlightenment is still continuing.We should face up to the history,face up to the current plight of children's education,and explore the road of today's enlightenment from multiple aspects of reality.
