To understand the changes of Chinese traditional villages today,we can take a flowing material as a research perspective.Saxophone itself,as a commodity flowing in the network of the world trade system, involves Sidangkou,a Saxophone-producing village in Tianjin,China, into a wider range of society and market, and at the same time transfers various concepts and cultures into the village.By tracing Saxophone's "rooting" process in Sidangkou Village,we can witness the changes of social life in a village in the past 40 years of China's reform and opening up.By sorting out the origin of "Saxophone Village",the author finds that the development of Saxophone manufacturing industry restructured the social life of Sidangkou Village.Among them, the dominant position of agriculture has gradually been replaced by industry, and most of the local villagers work in musical instrument factories or related industries.Wage income has become the main source of income for people. The amount of income affects the satisfaction of people's consumption needs in modern market economy, such as life, education and health care.Around the production of such Western musical instruments as saxophone, people in Sidangkou have established a relatively recessive social relations between "inside and outside".This division of "inside" and "outside" is not only reflected in the sense of "city" and "township",but also in the factory, living space and public space to shape the identity of "inside" and "outside".Therefore, the reality of social life in Sidangkou Village is often reflected in the superposition of multiple time and space in a place. In this village, which is constantly playing saxophone for the "materialized world",people's desire to breed comparative consumption also makes the division of the crowd have a sense of stratification.Saxophone restructured the village social life, and the village social life itself is also constantly reorganizing the production of Saxophone.Within villages and factories, the social logic of local acquaintances still plays a role.Using the existingintensive and profound interpersonal network, local people support and share resources with each other in the process of developing western musical instrument industry such as Saxophone, forming a closed mode that "outsiders" can not break. However, the current seemingly stable industrial structure of musical instruments can not guarantee the future livelihood prospects of the village. On the contrary, the village lacks the impetus for internal change.Elders see the crisis behind this stable structure.Facing the lack of successors in the local musical instrument industry and knowing the inferior position of products in the global trading chain, they expressed their worries about the future development of the musical instrument industry in Sidangkou. In the face of the external social and economic environment,it is a serious challenge for the four-party people to acquire the ability to adapt to the new environmental conditions and maintain the impetus for the sustainable development of their saxophone industry.
