The fourth grade of elementary school is a critical period for the development of students 'Chinese reading ability,and the use of teachers' reading teaching strategies is crucial.The International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievements has carried out a global study on the progress of international reading literacy since2001,referred to as PIRLS.It evaluates the reading literacy of fourth-grade students every five years.Its assessment framework is accepted by more than 60 countries or regions around the world And serve as an important reference for developing the reading abilities of elementary school students in the country or region.This study selects the ability to "integrate and interpret chapters" in the PIRLS assessment framework as the focus of the study.The five specific abilities of this ability are used as the analysis dimension to discuss the use of reading teaching strategies by Chinese teachers in the fourth grade of primary school.This study selects two ordinary public primary schools,J and R schools in S city,to observe the16 reading lessons of four teachers in the fourth grade,conduct in-depth interviews with six teachers,and Analyze their five specific abilities in training students' "Interpret and Integrate ideas and information"(discerning the overall message or the theme of a text?interpreting to real-world application of text information?inferring a story's mood or tone?considering an alternative to actions of characters?comparing and contrasting text information)At the time,the detailed process,frequency,type,characteristics and existing problems of using various strategies.The text is divided into four parts,one is the application status of reading teaching strategies for "integrate and interpret chapters" ability training;the second is the characteristics and problems of reading teaching strategies for "integrate and interpret chapters" ability training;the third is the influencing factors of the use of reading teaching strategies for "integrate and interpret chapters";the fourth is the conclusion and suggestions for the use of reading teaching strategies for "integrate and interpret chapters" ability training.The study found that,first,the PIRLS evaluation framework has a strong guiding role in the study of the use of reading teaching strategies;second,the use of reading teaching strategies to cultivate different reading abilities,the number and types of strategies used vary greatly;third,reading teaching The use of strategies pays attention to protecting the student's dominant position;fourth,the use of reading teaching strategies shows that teachers pay moreattention to the ability to integrate and explain chapters.Four suggestions for teachers:First,actively refer to the PIRLS assessment framework to guide reading teaching;second,grasp the balanced training of reading ability and focus on the comprehensive development of students' reading ability;third,pay attention to the guidance of student reading methods to ensure students Main position in reading teaching;Fourth,the application of reading teaching strategies should be more integrated with students' life experience.Hope to bring valuable help and inspiration to front-line educators.
