In visual art education recently,there are two unreasonable phenomena,which are led by adults in art skills training or free expression without the teachers support,respectively.They are not conducive to children’s artistic exploration and expression.However,the basic purpose of the visual arts is to raise the awareness of artistic exploration and get more fun of art in young children.The in-depth approach is significant in High Scope visual art education.It highlights this approach should focus on young children,attaches importance to the support role of adults and advocates that conducting continuous in-depth exploration of young children with a kind of material to gain multi-field experience growth.In order to effectively promote children’s multiple abilities of continuous in-depth exploration activities,this research focuses on the organization of paperwork exploration activities based on the in-depth approach theory,analyzes the growth of children and teachers’ support strategies.This research adopted a paradigm of action research.It reported regarding a class of 5–6-year-old children’s paperwork exploration activities in provincial kindergarten of B in Jiangsu Province.Researcher used interviews,observations and physical analysis with teacher G and teacher W to conduct the action research.The action research includes four processes: planning-action-observation-reflection and in the action process,we followed the preliminary-enrichment-production-reflection of the in-depth approach sequence to organize activities.From September 2019 to January 2020,this research conducted three rounds of paperwork exploration activities and concludes key experience gained by young children,each round of activities were generated with production and reflection from the last round.The research was carried out with the two clues of "bright and dark".The "bright clue" is a paperwork exploration activity which designed with the cognitive rules of young children.The "dark clue" is the key experience in young children activities.In the preparation stage of action research,researcher discovered the advantages and disadvantages of paperwork activities with non-participatory observations and carried out action research on existing issues.The first round of action research is the budding period of paperwork exploration of young children.Encouraging young children explore the features of paper based on their original experience and interests.The second round of action research is a development period of young children’s paperwork exploration,which aims to enhance children’sexperience with paper and aesthetic imagery,explore the various shapes of paper.The third round of action research is a sublimation period of children’s paperwork exploration,pointing at the development of children’s multiple abilities,exploring and designing paper sculptures.Research shows that action research on paperwork exploration activities has positive effects on the growth of young children and teachers.The growth of young children is mainly shown in the improvement of paperwork abilities,the enhancement of autonomy and planning,the memorably increase in creativity,the development of the abilities of addressing issues,the gradually strengthening of group cooperation abilities and the improvement of artistic literacy.The growth of teachers is mainly shown in the improvement of the ability of designing activities in advance and generation activities,the change of teachers’ roles and the development of teacher specialization.With action research,we concluded the teacher support strategies of the four stages,which are preliminar,enrichment,production and reflection.And we proposed effective suggestions for applying the in-depth approach in young children visual art education,which has significant effects for teachers to applying the in-depth approach in the visual art education.
