Measurement is one of the more widely used mathematical skills, and it is also an important field in children's mathematics learning. The development of measurement teaching activities is not only helpful to children's understanding of the relationship between numbers and quantity and to cultivate their mathematical thinking, but also to their ability to understand the objective world scientifically and comprehensively and to experience the application of mathematics in real life situations.Project approach is a kind of activities which mainly based on children's interest, take problem as the core, take the behavior as the direction and take group as the main way of activity. Its advantages and characteristics are helpful for children to understand the significance of measurement, explore measurement methods and use measurement skills in specific situations. This study mainly uses questionnaire, interview, observation, and action research method,on the basis of understanding the current status of measurement activities in senior class of kindergarten, discuss the effect of using project approach to carry out measurement activities in senior class of kindergarten to solve the problems existing in current measurement activities.According to the purpose of the study, the research is mainly divided into the current investigation stage and the action research stage.Situation investigation, the researcher used the step sampling method to select three first-class kindergartens and three second-class kindergartens in Chengdu, and then they used the questionnaire method and the interview method to investigate the present situation of measurement activities in senior kindergartens.Through the analysis of questionnaire and interview data,it is found that there are the following problems of measurement activities in senior kindergartens: Teachers' attitude to measurement does not match with cognition;Measurement is ignored in kindergarten mathematics; The content of measurement activities is single and the form is fixed;and the development of measurement activities does not reflect the needs of young children. The conclusions of the current investigation stage lay a foundation for the development of the second stage of action research.Action research, the researcher select A kindergarten as the cooperative kindergarten, the W teacher in the park as the cooperative teacher and the D3 class as the cooperative class.Firstly, the researcher measured the length measurement ability of 33 children in D3 class, and then the researcher and cooperative teachers carried out project-based approach measurement activities in D3 class.Through two months of action research, the research results show that the measurement activity based on project approach has the following characteristics: the activity process is dynamically generated;the openness and limitation of the operation materials coexist;the emphasis is on "measurement" as a method and approach to problem value. The goal of measurement activities based on project approach needs to change from "complex" to "layered";the content of activities needs to change from "single" to "variety";the form of activities needs to change from "static" to "dynamic".The measurement activities based on project approach should follow the interests and abilities of young children and the development needs of young children, and the basis of subject selection should be more practical, focused and comprehensive. From the effect of research,to the young children, measurement activities based on project approach can enhance the children's awareness of measurement and the interest in participating in measurement activities, make children gradually master the method of using non-standard units to carry out length measurement and understand the relationship between measuring tools and measurement results, and improve the children's ability of measuring length. From the point of view of cooperative teacher, three months of action research has changed teachers' educational concept and improved teachers' ability to organize measurement activities in a way.Through the action research, this paper summarizes some strategies of carrying out the measurement activities based on the project approach: taking the problem as the core, carrying out the measurement activities based on the real situation;taking the behavior as the direction, carrying out the measurement activities to support the children's continuous exploration;taking the group as the way, carrying out the measurement activities to meet the different measurement levels.Based on the research conclusions and the problems existing in the research process, this paper discussed the following three aspects: the re-understanding of the problems existing in the measurement activities based on project approach; The integration of project approach and other teaching modes;the ideal implementation strategy of measurement activities.Based on the above analysis and discussion, the researcher put forward suggestions for follow-up research and teaching: Combine theoretical learning with reflective practice in project approach;Pay attention to the particularity of measurement activities on the basis of mastering PCK theory;Make use of various resources to enrich children's measurementexperience;Correctly grasp the educational opportunity to promote the in-depth development of measurement activities; Can make rational use of time and space to support the continuity of children's measurement experience.
