A Case Study Of Social Work Involving The Growth Plight Of The Minor Children Of Prisoners

In recent years,with the development of China’s economy and social security level,the prisoners ‘s children have gradually attracted the attention of the government and society.Especially,the parents are serving the sentence at the same time,or one of them is serving the sentence,the other is dead or has no guardianship ability,their living situation is worrying,and the dilemma they are facing is also in urgent need of solution.Because of the complexity of its predicament,it is difficult to rely on the power of the government alone to satisfied their multidimensional demand.Social work based on the needs of the recipients,with the help of scientific models and skills to help people to achieve the goal.Based on these,this research bases on practice,relying on practice experience,taking the juvenile children of the prisoners who are exposed to the difficulties of growing up as the research object,combining observation and interview to collect relevant data,this paper makes a thoroughly analysis of the practical difficulties faced by the minor children of prisoners,and tries to provide them with intervention services by using the professional theory,mode and methods of social work.Firstly,by consulting relevant information and combining in-depth interviews with staff of uninsured centres,community workers,relatives of minor children of prisoners and staff of other departments,finds that there are growth dilemmas in the four levels of social ecosystem: micro system,medium system,external system and macro system.At the micro system level,the difficulties include: individual(body,psychology and behavior),family environment(family economic support,family education,family member’s interaction),school environment,peer groups,and media in direct contact;at the medium system level,the difficulties mainly include:insufficient interaction between individual and other relatives,school and family,school and peers;at the external system level,the difficulties are mainly manifested in the following aspects: the professional status of the existing guardians,the institutions serving the sentence,the community,the educational management departments,and the news media;the difficulties in the macro system level are: social culture,social subculture,and social policy.Secondly,social workers use the task-center intervention model and the crisis intervention model to intervene in the two prisoners’ s children who are in growing difficulties,and by coordinating with other supporters,integration of system resources to help the service object out of trouble,to create a good atmosphere for growth.Finally,the whole process of the practice of reflection,trying to induce social work’s intervention in the plight of the growth of juvenile prisoners should pay attention to matters,and put forward relevant recommendations.
