During the rapid advancement of urbanization, the rural areas are undergoing drastic transformation and reconstruction, showing a diverse scene of rural spatial differentiation. With the transformation of rural areas from agricultural production space to multifunctional spaces such as production, living, and ecology, the potential value of spatial elements such as human settlements, natural landscapes, history and culture in rural areas is gradually emerging, and the trend of the commodification of rural space is apparent. The research theme of the commodification of rural space meets the requirements of theory and practice. At present, there are few studies on the commodification of rural space directly by the Chinese human geography community, which is still in its infancy, and the discussion on its formation mechanism is not deep enough. This paper takes the Xixiang Village,Dongshan Town,Wuzhong District,Suzhou City as the study case, and conducts in-depth research on the commodification of rural space in developed areas.Based on clarifying the concept of rural space commodification, and summarizing related research on the commodification of rural space at home and abroad, this article integrates the production of space theory, rent theory,actor-network theory, and structuration theory to form the theoretical research construction of the commodification of rural space.Based on statistical yearbook data, corporate spatial location data, internet review text data, and interviews, photos, and local history data obtained from field surveys, comprehensive quantitative analysis and qualitative research methods are used. This paper first divides the development process of rural space commodification in Suzhou since 1978 into three stages: the township and village enterprise period of the industrial and agricultural products' commodification, the industrial park period of the land resources' commodification, and the beautiful rural period of the spatial resources' commodification. The overall characteristics are analyzed to clarify the regional economic and social background of Xixiang Village.Secondly, the process of the commodification of the space in Xixiang Village since 1978 is divided into the three stages of the commodification of agricultural products, the beginning and the development of space commodification.Analyze and describe the current situation of the space commodification of Xixiang Village, and summarize its main characteristics. Then, from the perspective of capital logic and actor-network,the driving mechanism of the commodification of space in Xixiang Village was discussed in depth.Based on the structuration theory, the mechanism of two perspectives is organically combined, and it points out that the commodification of space in Xixiang Village is the result of the combined effect of the macro-structure of capital logic and the micro-action of local actors. The structure has the function of restricting and stimulating action, and action can,in turn, shape and reconstruct the structure. Finally, the crux of the commodification of the space in Xixiang Village is summarized, and the preliminary discussion of relevant policy recommendations is carried out in combination with the actual development of Xixiang Village. This paper analyzes the process, pattern and characteristics of spatial commodification in Xixiang Village,Wuzhong District,Suzhou City, and studies the driving mechanism of the commodification rural space from the perspective of capital logic and actor-network.Comprehensive analysis based on structured theory makes up for the lack of previous research from a single perspective of political economy or social culture. It is a useful supplement to related research on the commodification of rural space and can also provide rational academic cognition for the new features and trends of rural development in developed regions and policy inspiration for relevant departments.
