Experiment is an important part of chemistry,and organic chemistry experiment is an important part of chemical experiment in middle school.There are quantities of researches on digital experiments and experimental comparisons,but there are no comparative studies on digital experiments of organic chemistry in middle schools.This paper compares the digital experiments of organic chemistry in Chinese and American middle schools,hoping to provide a reference for the application of digital experiments in organic chemistry education in China.Based on the theory of constructivism,structuralism and comparative education,this paper compares 31 American digital experiments of organic chemistry in middle schools from Vernier Organic Chemistry Experiment Manual CHEM-O and Vernier AP Chemistry Experiment Manual APCHEM with 35 Chinese digital experiments designed by Chinese teachers,using literature research and comparative research methods.This paper is conducted to find the similarities and differences between the two in terms of experimental content,experimental design and experimental teaching value.In conclusion:(1)In experimental content,both Chinese and American experiments attach importance to the separation,inspection and synthesis of materials;American experiments focus on separation and inspection,while Chinese experiments focus on "visualization" of abstract concepts.(2)In experimental design,both Chinese and American experiments are carried out based on real situations and made with materials from life;American experiments pay more attention to the processing of data,while Chinese experiments pay more attention to the analysis and interpretation of data.(3)In experimental teaching value,both Chinese and American experiments instruct students to understand organic materials from a micro-level,and instruct students to understand organic chemical reactions based on evidence;American experiments pay more attention to guiding students to use scientific methods and to cultivate students' experimental design abilities.Learning from American experiments,this study has developed two experimental cases.Based on the practical application in high school research learning,it is initially explained that the absorption of American experimental characteristics is conducive to improving the quality of digital experiments in organic chemistry in China.
