Textbook is an important tool for students to learn and teachers to teach. For chemistry,it is also a tool to help students understand concepts based on experimental phenomena. With the deepening of the basic education reform, the classroom teaching has changed accordingly, and the teaching materials also need to be improved. As the basis to guide the compilation of textbooks, curriculum standards play an important role in the updating of textbooks. After the revision of the curriculum standards for ordinary high schools in 2017,the textbooks of various subjects in China have been revised accordingly, and the degree of perfection has been constantly improved. This study selects American mainstream textbooks and Chinese textbooks as research objects. In this study, literature analysis was used to understand the research status of the comparative analysis of relevant textbooks and to determine the research model and framework. Then use the comparative analysis method to make a comparative analysis from the aspects of organic chemistry content selection, textbook arrangement, column involvement, images, exercises, etc.,to find out the advantages of the new edition of textbooks,as well as the shortcomings compared with American textbooks, and make contributions to the development of textbooks. This study makes a comparative analysis of Chinese and American high school textbooks from several parts. In the introduction part, the significance of the topic and the value of this study are demonstrated from four aspects, namely, the research background, the object of paper selection, the research method and the research significance. In the research status of the collected literature classification to understand the current research progress of textbooks and the current hot issues.Based on the principle of "three order combination" of textbook system, this paper constructs the analysis model of textbook and compares and analyzes the textbook according to the model. The study found that in terms of content selection,American textbooks not only introduce organic materials in a more comprehensive way,but also break the boundary between disciplines in content selection. In terms of layout, the new Textbooks of Luke edition overcome some shortcomings of the old ones and gradually move towards integration from a single discipline. In terms of the arrangement, the appearance of organic substances in the American textbooks is distributed in two chapters, from simple to complex, and the whole is linear. The organic contents of Luke textbooks are distributed in the two textbooks, and the integrated arrangement of parallel branches and spirals is adopted. In terms of column setting, the Number of columns in American textbooks is relatively small, but the categories are complete, and the classification is meticulous. The Textbook in Luke edition has relatively general classification, but the number of columns is large, which enriches the content of the book.In terms of illustration selection,American textbooks are more close to life, and luke edition textbooks have many experimental diagrams. The new edition of Luke textbooks have some organic structure diagrams. In the setting of exercises, the American textbook has only two types of multiplechoice and short-answer questions, while the Luc edition is more abundant, with discussion questions and experimental questions. In terms of the number of questions, the American textbook and the Luc Edition(new)textbooks are moderate, while the Luc Edition(old)textbooks are relatively few.
