The process of marketization has promoted the economic development of our country, improved the productivity, optimized the allocation of resources, released the social economic vitality, and brought the free development space to the enterprises. With the development of marketization, regional differences are becoming more and more obvious, and the income gap between urban and rural residents in China is widening, which has aroused widespread concern of the society. As a result, the government has issued policies such as minimum salary standards, salary restrictions for senior executives in state-owned enterprises, and so on.Are in order to avoid falling into the middle-income trap, promote social harmony, stable economic growth. The development of the enterprise needs the joint efforts of the staff and workers of the company, and can not be separated from the salary incentive, and the salary gap is an important aspect of the salary incentive. Therefore,we need to set up a reasonable pay gap to encourage employees. The worker's effort level is different, the enterprise's achievement also can appear difference. This paper studies the effect of salary gap on enterprise performance in the process of marketization. This paper makes a theoretical analysis and Empirical Study on the impact of the internal compensation gap on enterprises with different property rights in the process of marketization, mainly from six aspects. The first part introduces the background and significance of the research, the content and methods of the research, and the research goals. The second part is mainly about the process of marketization and the salary incentive. The literature of salary gap and enterprise performance is combed. The third part puts forward the research hypothesis on the basis of theoretical analysis. The fourth part creates the research model, and defines the relevant variables. The fifth part is based on the collected data for empirical analysis, and the main needs to include descriptive statistics.Correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and robustness test. The sixth part draws the conclusion of the research, puts forward the related policies and points out the deficiency of the article and the prospect of the future. This paper takes the Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies in China from 2008 to 2016 as the research object to investigate the effect of the internal pay gap on the performance of the companies in the process of regional marketization and whether there are differences in the different property rights enterprises. Finally, the results show that there are significant differences in the process of marketization in different property rights enterprises. In state-owned enterprises, the marketization process widens the relative pay gap between executives and employees, but in non-state-owned enterprises. The marketization process has narrowed the relative pay gap between executives and employees. The salary gap is beneficial to the promotion of enterprise performance.(3)the marketization process expands the influence of the relative pay gap between the high management and the employees in the non-state-owned enterprises on the performance of the enterprises, but not in the state-owned enterprises. This paper concludes that the salary gap should be set up to encourage the employees to improve their performance, but it is more beneficial to the development of the enterprise to set the salary structure with a large salary grade and a relatively small gap.The process of marketization can adjust the income gap and make the salary distribution incline to ordinary workers.Pushing forward the process of regional marketization is the core of giving full play to the incentive effect of salary gap between executives and employees, but the widening of salary gap between executives and employees in state-owned enterprises should be carried out.Coordinate with the process of regional marketization and the market-oriented reform of state-owned enterprises.
