Urban land expansion is one of the most obvious characteristics of the urbanization on the spatial. It is also an important measurement index of urbanization. Since the mid-1990s, our country has entered a period of rapid urbanization. The conflict between the demand of the urbanization process for land and other land demand is the dominant factor of the current land use and land cover change in China. With further progress of urbanization, urban land for further expansion, also will bring, such as ecology, food security and urban external cost increases and other issues, urban land expansion issue has become the hotspot of academia, by the scholars attention.Wuhan City Circle as the first batch of resource-saving and environment-friendly society comprehensive reform pilot area which was approved by the state council, is in the critical period of transition from the developmental type city circle to relatively developed city circle. Urbanization, industrialization, information technology continue to accelerate, the development of urban land expansion active. In this context, this paper took Wuhan City Circle as the case area, took the urban spatial interaction as an independent factor, comprehensively considered the affect of economic development, population growth, industrial restructuring, land investment intensity and other factors. use the panel data regression model to make an analysis on the influence of urban spatial interaction on the urban land expansion in urban system, further revealed the urban land expansion mechanism of Wuhan City Circle, so as to provide a scientific basis for scientifically understanding urban land expansion rule and direction of the land use policy formulation and adjustment in our country.Results show that:(1) From2000-2010, the urban spatial interaction between the cities of Wuhan city circle significantly enhanced, however, its spatial pattern has not changed greatly. Metropolitan cities with significant spatial interaction point and path-dependent features, that certain members of the city is often greater role in space unit is its proximity and accessibility of good cities, and the cities will be along in a given period its original role of other cities around the path of the continuing role, but only when conditions of interaction change significantly (city accessibility improving), the pattern of interaction between cities fundamental change will occur.(2) The relationship between the urban spatial interaction and the expansion of urban land is significant. However, the interaction between the metropolitan cities is very complex, and its impact on urban land expansion in individual member towns may be positive or be negative. There is a class cities such as Wuhan, Huangshi, Huanggang, Xianning, Tianmen, the enhanced interacting with other cities resulted in an increase to strengthen its land size town, and the reason may be the strengthening of inter-regional linkages makes the city attracts a lot of manpower, material and financial resources from the surrounding cities to accelerate the process of urbanization itself. Another type of city, and the increasing interaction with other cities resulting in slowing down the urban land-scale trend, which may be due to the increasingly close interaction between the cities makes the demand of urban land expansion in area towns inter got more efficient configuration, promoting intensive use of urban land, which to some extent slowed the trend of urban land expansion.
