Research On The Development Of Pomelo Industry In Meizhou

Pomelo has been planted in Meizhou city for more than 100 years.Meizhou city has become a famous pomelo production area in China,and the pomelo industry is one of its important agricultural pillar industries.Pomelo,because of its rich nutritional value and easy to storage,has the reputation of “natural canned fruit”.Also,the competition between several pomelo production areas has become increasingly fierce.In recent years,after the “rapid development-heavy losses-rebirth" three stages,pomelo industry has developed into a leader in modern agriculture in Meizhou City.The life cycle of pomelo industry in Meizhou City has entered a mature period,.But in fact,it is also facing problems that how to maintain its advantages in the competition.Based on the theory of industry life cycle,this paper uses literature research method and field investigation method to study the problems in pomelo industry in Meizhou City,including the low level of development of pomelo industry,the slowdown of industrial growth,the backwardness of industrial integration,the weakening of industrial profitability and the intense competition faced by the industry,etc.In the following,this paper analysis the reasons for the above problems,including the lack of willingness of pomelo farmers to plant,the lack of leading role of leading enterprises and cooperatives,and the lack of government management and support.Next,some suggestions are put forward,for example,to cultivate the main force of pomelo industry,to develop the chain of the industry and to innovate the operation mode of industry.This analysis of pomelo industry in meizhou city,to some extent,can summarize the current problems in the development process of the pomelo industry,thus to meizhou city of pomelo industry expand and offer reference basis,has great theoretical significance and practical significance.
