The Research Of The International Competitive Of Thai Rice Based On Porter Diamond Model

For many decades,Thailand is the world's largest export rice country,Thai rice market share is about 35% in the world rice market.For Thailand,rice exporting is a significant of income in Thai economy.Thai rice is mainly exported to China,the United States,Japan,Malaysia,Philippines,Nigeria,Benin,South Africa and other countries.Due to the development of economy and technology,it is inevitably for Thailand to encounter more competitors such as India,Vietnam,Burma,and Pakistan.In order to maintain a position in the international market,Thai rice's varieties as well as its quality have been developed.Exporters from most developing countries are closely related to national policies and government support schemes,but Thai rice policy has been greatly affected by the country's political instability over the past decade.This led Thailand first loss of global exports of rice in 2011.In this paper,it shows the overview about the situation of rice production in different countries,studies through total production,planting area and yield.Also,the top five rice importers and exporters data will be used in this study in order to have a better understanding about the situation of the international rice market.Moreover,the international market share,Trade Competitiveness Index and Revealed Competitiveness Index and The index of rise export of advantage will be a key data to help analyzing the competitiveness of the main export rice countries in the world rice market.This paper also analyzes the influential factors that affect Thai Rice competitiveness through Porter's diamond model,and then give some suggestions on improving rice competitiveness.The results show that Thai rice still has potential international competitiveness in the international market,although in recent years Thai Government's policies and support plans have been changed and unstable,but there natural resources and technology are still efficiency.
