Research On The Upgrading Of Manufacturing Industry In Western Region Of The Belt And Road

As the pillar industry in the real economy,manufacturing industry maintains the development of the first and third industries.China’s manufacturing industry has gone through four stages:(1)The socialist transition period(1949 to 1956).The industrialization had comprehensively promoted in the “First Five-year” plan,and realizes the construction of aircraft,automobile manufacturing,heavy duty and precision machinery manufacturing industry,etc,built form 0 to 1.(2)The stage of socialist exploration(1956-1978).Under the influence of the international situation,priority to the development of heavy industry strategy,but because of weak light industry base,the structure of manufacturing were unbalanced;(3)The period of reform and opening(1978-1992).Restoring the national economy,liberate the labor force and the capital market strategy,making the manufacturing structure realize the balance;(4)The stage of socialist market economy(1992 to present).Thanks to the establishment of the socialist market economic system and the formal accession to the world trade organization in 2001,China entered the global system and gained an open market.From the early 1990 s to the end of the 20 th century,the manufacturing industry,which was dominated by low technology processing,followed the trend of international manufacturing transfer.More than 20 years,China’s manufacturing industry has overcomed other counties and became the “world manufacturing factory”,also the national economy earned a long-term growth of nearly 10% per year on average.With the continuous improvement of technical level,the development of China’s manufacturing defects emerging: one is relying on the lower cost advantage of cheapper labor and abundant natural resources,formed a mode of “high pollution,high waste,high energy consumption”;Second,with the loss of cost advantage,the private small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises,which lacked of competition consciousness,brand consciousness,are decline and even destruction;Third,the coastal areas,with the favorable development conditions and the advantages of proximity to foreign markets,got developed.And the gap between the economic strength of China’s eastern and western regions has gradually widened,China’s manufacturing industry must transformation and upgrading.However,as the strategy “the Belt and Rode” is put forward,scholars and entrepreneurs are focusing on how to implement the transformation and upgrading,through international manufacturing transfer,and ignore the importance of China’s manufacturing system completeness,and the western region need to promote regional economic growth through manufacturing.Therefore,this thesis based on the theory of comparative advantage,and area transfer theory,summarizing the trend of international manufacturing industry and China regional transfer,analysis of regional development gap of China’s manufacturing industry;Using shift-share analysis method and total factor productivity,analyze the competitive advantage and comparative advantage in the western region manufacturing,through the “labor intensive,capital intensive and technology intensive” road,and basing on the perspective of technological progress and innovation to promote total factor productivity improvements,put forward the advices of the upgrading of manufacturing.And hope to promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry in the western region and realize the regional economic growth,ensure the completeness of China’s manufacturing system,achieve balanced and coordinated development of the region.The thesis is divided into four chapters: chapter 1: introduction.1.Introduce the research background and significance.Research background and the significance of developing manufacturing industry in the western region.2.Related theoretical basis and literature review of manufacturing upgrading :(1)theoretical basis of manufacturing upgrading.To understand the concept of manufacturing upgrading and its theoretical basis,manufacturing upgrading power mechanism and manufacturing upgrading path,to provide theoretical basis for the analysis of competitive advantage and comparative advantage in the western region;(2)literature review.The author summarizes the achievements of the research on the development of manufacturing industry in western China,and provides experience for the research of this thesis,and expounds its shortcomings and contributions to the research.The research on the competitiveness of western regions has been concluded,and the competitive advantage of the western region is analyzed based on the status of Chinese manufacturing industry in the world.This paper summarizes the achievements of manufacturing upgrading in the western region,analyzes the regional development gap of China’s manufacturing industry,and puts forward targeted policy Suggestions for the western region to undertake manufacturing transfer in the eastern region.3.Research content,methods and technology roadmap.Chapter 2: the gap between manufacturing transfer trend and China regional development.1.History of manufacturing industry and new trends.To understand the history and development trend of international manufacturing transfer,and to measure the history and development of domestic manufacturing industry.2.Analyze the regional gap of China’s manufacturing industry and the development status of western regions.(1)to carry out factors and cluster analysis through the manufacturing upgrade statistical monitoring index system,and grasp the development gap of regional manufacturing industry and the characteristics of regional manufacturing development;(2)grasp the development process of western region through the hoffmann coefficient and MORE value,and summarize the problems of manufacturing upgrading in the western region.It provides reference for the analysis of competitive advantage and comparative advantage in the western region of The Belt and Road.Chapter 3: the competitive advantage and comparative advantage of "The Belt and Road" in western China.1.Manufacturing competitiveness in the western region.By shift-share analysis method,using industrial production index,analysis of the western region and the province compared with the national manufacturing industry development degree,analyze the competitive advantage in the western region and the province of manufacturing.2.Through the total factor productivity analysis of comparative advantage in manufacturing development in western China,on the overall analysis of the western region to undertake the eastern manufacturing industry transfer,and points the provinces comparative advantage to analyze its manufacturing industry.Chapter 4: "The Belt and Road" in the western region manufacturing upgrade strategy Suggestions.This paper puts forward some Suggestions on the upgrading of manufacturing industry in the western region under "The Belt and Road" from the competition and cooperation.
