The popularization of the Internet has made the global economic development show the characteristics of “informationization”,thus starting a social revolution triggered by informationization.Informatization has continuously pushed forward the deepening of the global industrial division of labor, adjusted the economic structure and reshaped the global economic competition. In the current wave of the fourth industrial revolution, the vigorous development of informationization is a necessary requirement for building a powerful nation in our country. At present, the informatization of our country is developing rapidly, but there is still a big gap compared with the developed countries. In the case of incoordination between regional informatization and regional economic development in China,it is particularly necessary to study the impact of information on China’s total factor productivity.Focuses on the theme of the impact of informatization on total factor productivity, the paper builds an index system of measuring informatization level based on the relevant literature.Based on the data of 2001-2015,the author makes a comprehensive evaluation on the informatization level of 30 provinces and cities nationwide, and analyze the regional balance in the level of informatization development. The DEAMalmquist index method has been used to measure the total factor productivity, which has been decomposed into technical progress and technical efficiency. Finally,an empirical model of the impact of informatization level on total factor productivity is constructed and a comparative analysis is made on the impact of informatization on China’s total factor productivity. The empirical results of the study confirm that the level of information technology in China has been improved year by year, however, due to the digital divide, the present situation of the east is higher than that of the west.Informationization can promote the improvement of total factor productivity, but it has a certain time lag.The impact of informationization on total factor productivity in the eastern region is more positive. This article has carried on the corresponding reason analysis on the basis of the empirical result, pointed out the problems existing in informationalization to promote total factor productivity in our country.Accordingly, some countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to improve the level of informatization and total factor productivity in the region, with a view to providing relevant departments with useful ideas.Different from previous researches focusing on the impact of informatization on total economic growth, this paper takes total factor productivity as the research object, further decomposes it into technological progress and technical efficiency to examine the impact of information technology on total factor productivity and the working mechanism.Furthermore, the paper introduce the information level of lagged phase I as the core explanatory variable in the model, and examine the time when the level of information contributes to total factor productivity. The research in this paper is helpful to grasp the level of informatization development and its influence on the total factor productivity in China as a whole, and has certain reference value for formulating the corresponding economic development strategy.
