The top management team undertakes the mission of formulating and implementing enterprise strategy,which is crucial to the performance and development of the enterprise,which has always been the focus of academic and business research.The existing theoretical and empirical studies on the relationship between heterogeneity of top management team and enterprise performance have achieved fruitful results,but there are still some deficiencies.Summarizing the studies of relevant scholars,it is found that the existing studies are not comprehensive in the selection of heterogeneous indicators,and ignore the dynamic relationship between the top management team and the external environment in the research on the moderator variables of the relationship between heterogeneity and performance.At the same time,few scholars have studied the impact of the heterogeneity of top management team on the innovation performance of enterprises.The purpose of this paper is to apply the theoretical basis of top management team(Upper echelons theory)to analyze the relationship between heterogeneity of top management team and innovation performance in the current social and economic environment of China.At the same time,based on the idea of open innovation and the reality that enterprises pay attention to the cultivation of social relationship network,pay attention to the dynamic connection between the top management team and the external environment,introduce the social capital of the top management team as the moderator variable,in order to explain the influence of the moderator variable on the relationship between the heterogeneity of top management team and Innovation performance.In this paper,we adopt the method of empirical study,on the basis of literature review and theoretical analysis,put forward the research hypothesis and research model of this study,and select the computer,communications,and other electronic equipment manufacturing listed companies as research samples,using Excel and Stata14 statistical analysis software for data preprocessing and hypothesis test,the results show that: firstly,under the background of social and economic environment in China,TMT heterogeneity of gender and native place are positively correlated with innovation performance,The higher the gender heterogeneity of senior management team(The current stage is to improve the proportion of female executives),The more conducive to improve the performance of enterprise innovation;The higher TMT heterogeneity of native place,that is,when the members of the top management team come from different geographical regions,the better the performance of enterprise innovation will be;Term heterogeneity is negatively correlated with innovation performance,that is,the greater the difference in the term of the top management team members,the more detrimental it is to the improvement of enterprise innovation performance;TMT heterogeneity of occupational background has no significant effect on innovation performance.Secondly,TMG political Social Capital positively regulates TMT heterogeneity of gender?native place and occupational background's influence on innovation performance,TMG political Social Capital is conducive to the enterprise to obtain more valuable and useful resources and information,reduce the occurrence of the conflict between team members,improve adaptability to external market competition,enterprises,so as to improve the decision-making efficiency and quality of technological innovation,improve the enterprise innovation performance,it plays an active role in the relationship between TMT heterogeneity and innovation performance.China's institutional environment and market environment have their own characteristics.In this context,empirical research on the relationship between the heterogeneity of top management team and innovation performance,as well as the influence of social capital on the relationship between the heterogeneity of top management team and innovation performance,has deepened the understanding of the influence of heterogeneity of top management team,and expanded the application space of Upper echelons theory.This paper puts forward new ideas on the selection of heterogeneous indicators and moderating variables,which enriches the research content on the relationship between the heterogeneity of top management team and organizational performance.
