Economic globalization has brought pressure from competition, while bringing new opportunities to enterprises (especially SME). Especially after our country join in the WTO, the pressure has become bigger. Enterprises have to have a strong sense of innovation if they want to survive and develop. In recent years, enterprises have realized the importance of innovation to improve their core competence and they all increase investment on R&D, however, unluckily, the innovation performance is not high. How to improve the innovation performance in an efficient way and which factors affect the innovation performance becomes the key of enhancing enterprises'competitiveness.Based on the domestic and foreign researches, this dissertation analyzes the relationship between the top management team (TMT) heterogeneity and innovation performance and selects four TMT heterogeneities: age heterogeneity,tenure heterogeneity,education background heterogeneity and profession background heterogeneity. This dissertation analyzes the relationship between this four TMT heterogeneities and innovation performance.With the help of survey, this dissertation uses meta-analysis to analyze. The conclusions are as follows:(1) The age heterogeneity and innovation performance are negative correlation: the bigger of age heterogeneity, the lower of innovation performance. (2) The tenure heterogeneity and innovation performance are positive correlation: the bigger of tenure heterogeneity, the higher of innovation performance.(3) The education background heterogeneity and innovation performance are positive correlation: the bigger of education background heterogeneity, the higher of innovation performance.(4) The profession background heterogeneity and innovation performance are positive correlation: the bigger of profession background heterogeneity, the higher of innovation performance.At last, based on the conclusion above, this paper comes up with practical suggestions concerning how enterprise improves the innovation performance effectively.
