Research On The Organization And Governance Of A Platform-based Business Ecosystem

The influence of the accelerating of global economic integration and the rapid growth of network economy have brought about tremendous changes to the modes of production and people's lifestyles in our society.The business model of some traditional enterprises does not adapt to the rhythm.The changes of market environment and consumption patterns have turned the competitions between sole enterprises or industries into the competitions between cross-industry clusters or ecosystems.In the era of Internet and big data,an increasing number of traditional enterprises change their business models,using the platform market to achieve their own transformations and upgrading and establishing a platform-based business ecosystem to obtain greater benefits.In order for enterprises to transform into platform enterprises,for one thing,they need to build a platform business ecosystem which is suitable for the development of enterprises.On the other hand,they should pay attention to the operation and governance of the platform business ecosystem and its internal members.How the members of the system develop,how the ecosystem evolves in different stages,and what measures should be taken to guide the healthy and stable development of the ecosystem during all stages need to be considered by platform enterprises.Firstly,in this article,the platform theory,bilateral market theory,platform-based business ecosystem theory and platform-based business ecosystem governance theory are elaborated to define the concept of platform-based business ecosystem studied in this paper,and the members platform-based business ecosystem organization and the evolution of ecosystems are analyzed.The four stages of platform-based business ecosystem development(birth stage,development stage,mature stage and decline stage)and the members of the system are analyzed.The typical problems in each stage are found out and how to manage each stage separately is discussed.Subsequently,according to the analysis of the development of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.in different periods,this paper summarizes the management strategies of the company.Based on the different stages of the development of platform-based business ecosystem,this study analyzes the evolution process of the system,combining with the development path of the members of the system and the relationship between them to offer suggestions for the governance of platform-based business ecosystem.
