With the gradual maturity of information technology, the platform ecosystem has emerged and shown excellent vitality. However, due to the differences in enterprise resources and market potential, the platform ecosystems established by different core enterprises also show great differences. The impact of this difference in enterprise resources on the construction strategies and models of the platform ecosystem, and the extent to which it affects the growth path of the system will be a fundamental theoretical issue of great practical significance. It is worthy of further study. This article will use two cases Haier and Xiaomi to explore the differences in platform ecosystems brought about by differences in core enterprises and revealed the underlying causes and influencing factors of different platforms. This paper adopts the nested case study method to analyze the typical enterprises in the whole ecosystem of Xiaomi and Haier, and summarizes the different performances and root causes of the two ecosystems in the three fields of resource support, value creation and platform governance.Thereby revealing the theoretical support behind it.The research finds that in the construction of the platform ecosystem, the incumbent core enterprises and the new core enterprises have different resource status in the establishment of the ecosystem. In order to overcome the resource inertia, the incumbent enterprises adopt a differentiated platform strategy to promote resource vitality. In order to overcome their own resource constraints, new ventures adopt a replication-based platform strategy to increase the efficiency of the use of existing resources. In the resource support phase, the resources provided by platform keystone enterprises for entrepreneurs in the ecosystem can be divided into architectural resources and specialized resources. The platform mechanism has a greater advantage than the traditional growth mechanism, and the platform mechanism can also be generated by the use of architectural resources. These two resources are key to the success of entrepreneurs in the ecosystem. In the value creation phase, the resources obtained by the hatched enterprise to a large extent determine the success of the entrepreneurial enterprise.Whether the resources accumulated by the hatched enterprise can be fedback to the ecosystem determines the expansion and value creation of the ecosystem;in the platform governance phase, the two platform strategies determine whether the hatched enterprise independently identifies the market opportunity and the process control intensity of the platform enterprise to the hatched enterprise, and affects the specialization level of the resources of the hatched enterprise, thereby affecting the consistency between the goal of the hatched enterprise and value creation of the ecosystem. The research in this paper enriches the relevant theoretical research on the platform ecosystem and links the entrepreneurship with platform theory, improving the significance of the platform ecosystem.Companies in the platform ecosystems rely on ecosystems to grow,as well as feedback to ecosystems to promote their expansion. The high efficiency of platform enterprise incubation must reduce the complexity of the system. The hierarchy of the platform, the tightness of the process and whether the ecosystem is generated in the strategic design all affect the maximization of the interests and value creation of the entire ecosystem. This paper makes the platform ecosystem theory better guide the entrepreneurial practice of Chinese enterprises, and has important theoretical guidance and practical significance for the strategic implementation of Chinese enterprises in the Internet context.
