A Study On The Consumption Structure Of Urban Residents In China

With the deepening of reform and opening up,the consumption level of urban residents in China has achieved a huge leap,and the consumption structure is also undergoing dramatic changes.On the basis of satisfying the consumption of basic material materials,people begin to increase the consumption of development-oriented and Enjoyment-oriented materials.The new appearance of residents' consumption is the epitome of China's social progress and economic development.Especially since China's economic development has entered a new normal state,the government has put forward a policy of moderately expanding aggregate demand.By tapping the potential of domestic demand,especially consumption demand,the mode of economic growth is changing from over-reliance on investment and export to coordinated development of consumption,investment and export.Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of the consumption problems of urban residents in China,especially the consumption structure of residents,has become the focus of current academic research.Firstly,this paper expounds the research status and achievements of domestic and foreign scholars on consumption structure;secondly,it discusses the current situation of consumption structure of urban residents,divides the evolution stages of consumption structure of urban residents for more than 30 years,and makes a concrete analysis of the evolution trend of specific consumption items over time;secondly,it analyses the cities and towns of different income classes and different regions.Then,based on the Shannon index decomposition formula,the factors affecting the consumption structure of urban residents are decomposed to analyze the regional differences.The impact of income from different sources on the change of consumption structure of urban residents is explored through regression analysis.then,the characteristics of urban residents' consumption structure are analyzed,the trend and hotspot of urban residents' consumption are discussed,and the prominent problems are analyzed,and the reasons are explained.Finally,based on the summary,countermeasures and suggestions are put forward for the existing problems.we can draw the following conclusions:(1)The consumption structure of urban residents has improved significantly in the past 40 years: the expenditure amount of various consumption items is continuously rising,the proportion of the consumption of subsistence materials such as food,clothing and household equipment in total consumption is declining,while the consumption capital representing development and enjoyment is decreasing.The expenditure on transportation,communication,education and entertainment projects is increasing.People begin to pursue diversified spiritual and cultural needs.(2)Based on the Shannon index decomposition formula,draws the following conclusions: Firstly,the food expenditure has the greatest impact on the consumption expenditure of urban residents.Although food consumption expenditure it is in the process of declining.Secondly,the influence of regional differences on the consumption expenditure structure of urban residents in China is constantly changing.Thirdly,there are obvious regional differences in housing consumption expenditure at the current stage.(3)This paper quantitatively analyses the influence of income from different sources on the consumption structure of urban residents.,and the conclusion is drawn that different sources of income have different pull on different types of consumption.When operating income and transferable income increase,the increased income is mostly spent on the consumption of material materials used to maintain the basic daily living needs of residents,and the impact on consumption expenditure of other items is not significant.The influence of wage income on the consumption items and types of urban residents is comprehensive and extensive.(4)There are some new trends in the consumption.First,"e-commerce economy" promotes the individualized and convenient development of consumption;secondly,women become the main consumer in the Internet era;thirdly,"new and old" consumer demand becomes the hot area of future consumption;fourthly,the popularity of housing purchase continues unabated;fifthly,quality consumption becomes the focus of attention of current residents;sixth,consumption and digital finance are tight.Close combination.(5)The following problems exist in the consumption structure of urban residents: Firstly,the Engel coefficient is still higher than that of developed economies;secondly,the proportion of survival consumption is too large,while the consumption of development and enjoyment is still insufficient;thirdly,the consumption structure gap among different income groups in cities and towns is large;fourthly,the consumption structure gap among urban residents still exists.(6)The reasons for these problems are: first,the overall income level of urban residents is low;second,the gap between rich and poor is gradually widening;third,the social security system is not sound;fourth,the impact of bad consumption concepts.
