With the rapid development of e-commerce in recent years,the traditional offline business formats,such as retailing,catering,leisure and entertainment,life services,financial services,tourism and accommodation have been greatly impacted.In many cities,especially large cities.the street commercial space with traditional commercial formats has shrunk.At the same time,as a new type of intensive and efficient commercial space,the commercial complex is booming The commercial complex and the street commercial space constitute the main form of the current urban commercial space in China and both are important carriers of urban,vitality.But the similarities and differences in their functions and the coexistence of them have not been well discussed by previous researchesA relatively mature commercial complex,Hangzhou Intime City is selected as the research sample,while an empirical research on its commercial relationship with its surrounding streets is conducted in this study from the microscopic perspective.Through field visits,475 stores in Intime City and the 514 stores on the surrounding streets were investigated.There are mainly complementary and partly overlapping competition relations between them in six categories of retailing,catering,leisure and entertainment,life services,finance,and tourism and 38 sub-categories.There are a large number of functions such as clothing.catering,training and so on both in commercial spaces of Intime City and surrounding streets.Medical services,fresh food,fast food,printing services,cyber bars,banks are mainly found in In the surrounding commercial space,while cosmetics/sanitary products,jewellery,specialty catering,amusement and entertaimment functions are mainly found in Intime City.By further comparing the catering,clothing and training stores both in Intime City and surrounding streets,it can be found that the differences between the shops in these two spaces are mainly reflected in the grades and brands.Intime City is dominated by brand stores with higher grades,while in the street commercial space,there are a large number of small-scale shops operated by individuals.At the end of this paper,based on the theories of corrmmercial cluster and consumer class reformation,the formation tnechanism and evolution trend of the polymer composed of commercial complex and surrounding street commercial space are discussed.It is found that the polymer is dominated by conmmercial complex.The street commercial space is a supplement.The cluster form of them can form a relatively good and stable symbiotic relationship and meet the commercial consumption requiments of a wider population.
