Research On China's Producer Services Agglomeration And Its Influencing Factors

Since the reform and opening up,with the rapid development of China's economy and continuous changes in the industrial structure,the proportion of the service industry in the national economy has been rising.As an industry providing intermediate input to the manufacturing industry,producer services mix and match through many links of the entire industrial chain of the manufacturing industry,and are characterized by intensive knowledge,high added value and strong employment capacity,which have become an important component at both ends of the global value chain and an important source of product differentiation.In the current context of China's changing economic growth pattern and adjusting industrial structure,the development of modern producer services is conducive to improving labor productivity and technological innovation,transforming the pattern of economic growth from the extensive growth with high input,high energy consumption and high pollution in the past to the sustainable growth driven by innovation,and leading the industrial chain of manufacturing to the high-end.This paper analyzes the status quo of China's producer services agglomeration and it's development and evolvement,and utilizes a theoretical framework for analyzing the agglomeration of producer services based on correlative theories to discuss the influencing factors of China's producer services agglomeration,and further carries out an empirical test with China's 285 prefecture-level and above cities' panel data from 2003 to 2016.The results of regression reveal that manufacturing agglomeration and information and communication technology development are beneficial to producer services agglomeration,the government scale which is too big in the economy will impede the development of producer services.With the development of producer services,its agglomeration's dependence on manufacturing will decrease.The over-reliance on fixed asset investment to drive regional economy in western China is not conducive to the agglomeration of producer services.
