Financial Performance Analysis Of Youku Merged Tudou

With the booming development of the Internet era,online video has entered the golden age of development,and video website has also become one of the fastest growing Internet industries in recent years.Although the online video industry’s market scale is steadily expanding,there are still problems to be improved in its sustainable development.In March 2012,youku and tudou,the "champion" and "runner" in China’s video online market,announced the merger,which is the largest merger case of online video industry in China so far.The financial value and business value of the two companies occupy a large share in the video online market,so this paper chooses this case for analysis.Based on the financial statements before and after the merger of youku and tudou,the financial indicators and enterprise values before and after the merger are compared and analyzed,so as to reveal the impact of the merger on Internet video industry.This article first introduced the thesis research background,research purpose and meaning,and the academic circles at home and abroad to the enterprise merger and financial performance of the related literature systematically comb,domestic and foreign scholars research on m&a performance analysis for theoretical study,through the establishment of model to find out the factors that influence the performance changes or study of m&a,and combining with the specific case analysis of mergers and acquisitions less influence on the performance of the article;Secondly,based on the development of Internet video industry where youku and tudou are located,this paper discusses the merger background of youku and tudou,the development status and introduces the merger process.Third,this paper focuses on the merger motivation of youku and tudou,adopts the method of financial indicator analysis,and reflects the impact effect of merger activities by comparing the relevant financial indicators of financial data before and after the merger.Finally,according to the analysis of the results of the case study,it is found that although the financialperformance after youku’s acquisition of tudou is still far from the expectation of investors before the acquisition,a good development trend has been formed.
