Study On The Comprehensive Measure Of Urban Compactness

At present,while paying attention to the economic development of the city,China is paying more and more attention to the overall quality of the city.The rapid economic development of the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration has provided tremendous impetus to China's economic growth.Taking Guangzhou,Shenzhen and Zhuhai in Guangdong Province as an example,the speed of urbanization and industry development is amazing.It not only provides benefits for local urban development,but also provides rich material security for the lives of local residents.The development of urbanization is conducive to further enhancing China's overall national strength and the people's living standards.At the moment,although China's urbanization has made great progress,at this stage,China's urbanization shows an average extensive spread and expansion trend.For the development of cities,this model is not sustainable.And caused a serious waste of land resources.Compact city refers to the urban spatial development model based on the public transportation network and aimed at achieving high-efficiency land use and moderate land function mix.It can alleviate the problems of resource waste,traffic congestion and less green area.In this case,China should strive to promote the construction of compact cities to effectively resolve the increasingly prominent contradictions among population,land and resources.Therefore,research and analysis of urban compactness is of great significance for us to develop more scientific urban development indicators.This paper mainly uses nine cities in the Pearl River Delta as a case to study the measurement of urban compactness and its relationship with urban development level,so as to find new directions and ideas for the sustainable development of the Pearl River Delta city.First of all,in order to clarify the measurement method of urban compactness,this paper establishes the indicators of urban compactness evaluation with reference to domestic and foreign literature.Then according to the principal component analysis method,combined with the development characteristics of each city,the urban compactness calculation was carried out for the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration from 2006 to 2016.It can be found that the trend of compactness in different cities shows a certain difference,and generally the value of compactness shows an increasing trend with time.Then,through the hierarchical clustering analysis method,the characteristics of per capita GDP and urban population density are included in the classification indicators,and the nine cities can bedivided into three levels.When cluster analysis is carried out according to urban compactness,there is not much difference in the final classification,it indicates that the selected urban compactness evaluation index can better reflect the actual situation of the city.Finally,this paper uses gray correlation analysis to analyze the correlation between urban compactness and urban development level.And the importance of the impact of urban development level indicators on urban compactness is analyzed.Based on the above research results,scientific and reasonable suggestions are proposed for the improvement of urban compactness,so as to provide new ideas for the coordinated and sustainable development of the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration.
