| Stereotype threat is a crisis that individual is being at certain threatening situation which can testify particular negative stereotype related with individual’s group identity.It also is depicted as a situation dilemma induced by particular membership identity contingency event.On this basis,this research paper focuses on the destructive effect of power stereotype threat on the participants’ creativity performances.In fact,power stereotype threat is regarded as a “situational test” that individual is encountering a diagnostic task which can confirm he or she possesses of the common characteristics belonged to powerless group’s membership,such as verifying that he or she is less competitive or competent than the membership of powerful group.For further exploring the crucial factors which determine the optimal policy context for activating the creativity potential and the leader consciousness of talents on innovation-driven development,Study 1(within-subject design)recruited 223 undergraduate participants for taking part in the situational experiment,which initiatively aimed at recognizing the effect of subjective power stereotype threat experience on college students’ creativity production under the deviation situation of public policy implementation,with the Undergraduate Power Stereotype Threat Scale(UPSTS).What is more,105 college students voluntarily participated in Study 2(between-subjects design),which used the explicit political efficacy scale and the categorization task in picture form for further exploring the negative effect of power stereotype threat on students’ political efficacy during public participation and their performances during creativity activity.Partially supporting predictions,the findings indicated that:(1)Under the Chinese cultural context,these college students who encountered the deviated event of public policy appeared typical symptoms of power stereotype threat,mainly emerged on fluency and originality aspects;(2)The subjective power stereotype threat that students experienced is composed by two component dimensions involving the perception toward situational threat and the activation of power meta-stereotype;(3)The strength of subjective power stereotype threat experience,especially the perception toward situational threat,played a moderator role on undergraduates’ creativity performance and variance,which reflected on fluency and originality aspects;(4)Power stereotype threat negatively affect college students’ external political efficacy during their public participation.However,transparent and effective experiences about public participation can serve as the positive intervention,which can relieve these students’ unpleasant feeling after suffering from the deviated event of public policy;(5)Unexpectedly,power stereotype threat may have no impact on the flexibility during creativity thinking.However,it may play its role on their reformation inclination which need to break the conventional rule and mental set. |
