Development Status And Countermeasures Of Navel Orange Industry In Fuchuan County

Since 1981,Fuchuan County in Guangxi Province began to plant navel oranges,and after more than 30 years of hard work,it has developed into today's largest and nationally renowned navel orange producing area in Southern China.Fuchuan County is a major agricultural county,where navel orange has become a pillar industry of agriculture and helped many local farmers to achieve poverty alleviation.This paper investigates the current situation of the navel orange industry,explores the advantages and disadvantages of its development and existing problems,and proposes corresponding countermeasures in order to promote the advancement of the industry.This paper adopts the literature method,field research and collection of related data to understand the development status quo of navel orange industry in Fuchuan.By the end of 2018,the county's navel orange plantjing area has exceeded 20,000 hectares;the annual production capacity has reached 320,000 tons;the industrial output value has reached 1.65 billion yuan;and the increase in average annual income per fruit farmer is up to 5,000 yuan.By means of SWOT analysis,it is found that the development advantages of Fuchuan's navel orange industry mainly lie in its natural conditions,location,industry scale,market prospects and brand influence;whereas the disadvantages are mainly reflected in the county's weak economic strength,landform restrictions,high difficulty in operation,lack of labor,backward production management and small planting scale.Additionally,its development opportunities include the government's attention and rising market demand;while threats and challenges are manifested in increasingly scarce land resources,blocked market information,excessive application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides,as well as the competition among different types of fruits.The study has further found that the following problems exist in the development course of the navel orange industry in Fuchuan County:too concentrated time of appearing on the market;great difficulty in sale;high product competition pressure;the adverse effects of citrus greening disease;weak infrastructure;low degree of mechanization;and poor deep-processing capacity.Based on this,this paper puts forward the following countermeasures:optimizing the variety structure and rationally controlling the time of appearing on the market;broadening marketing channels to open up the market;promoting the construction of demonstration orchards and improving the quality of navel oranges;strengthening pest control;intensifying scientific research and development and optimizing infrastructure;perfecting the system of navel orange processing,storage and logistics;creating a brand of Fuchuan navel orange as a world-famous one.
