As two important sources that drive the economy growth,industrial structure optimization and upgrading will not only affect regional innovation,but also interact with each other.On the one hand,the industrial structure optimization and upgrading causes influences to the regional innovation in the process of re-distribution of production factors.On the other hand,the regional innovation enhances the industrial structure by increasing the productivity of companies which attract resources to lean.Therefore,how to push the coordinated development of industrial structure and regional innovation has been a major proposition to drive the high-quality of China's economic development.Based on the provincial panel data collected between 2006-2016,this paper aims to analyze the coordination degree of regional innovation and industrial structure in30 cities and provinces and its economic benefit through the construction of aggregative indicator system of regional innovation and industrial structure as well as the coupling coordination degree model and econometric model.The results indicate that: the overall level index of regional innovation and industrial structure is in increasing rise during the sample period;the unity coupling of regional innovation and industrial structure is at high level,while the coordination degree at low level,and there are obvious provincial differences;the overall distribution is that the eastern and southern parts of the country have high-level coordination degree while the western and northern parts are being at low level;positive coordination degree is mainly seen in Yangtze River Delta,Pearl River Delta and Bo Hai Coastal Region.The results of static panel analysis indicates that there is positive “U” relationship between the coordination degree of regional innovation and industrial structure and economic growth;All provinces and cities have passed the lowest point and concentrate on the right of the“U”curve,which means the coordination degree has played a part in the promotion of the economic growth;The results of spatial panel analysis not only confirm the robustness of the model,but also discover that there is obvious space overflow in the coordination degree that is more obvious with larger economic gap among different regions.The results of the research indicate that the degree of coordination between regional innovation and industrial structure in China locates in the level between low and medium coordination and has not yet reached a high coordination degree stillbeing a big upside potential.And there are obvious differences among regions which are expressed in the highest coordination degree in the east,second in the middle,last in the west.Therefore,measures must be taken,like taking the innovation-driven development strategy as the core to the industrial transformation and upgrading,precising position,manifesting regional characteristics and advantages,and narrowing down the gap of the coupling coordination degree among different regions to avoid the negative external effects.
