Emerging Industries have become the focus of academic research in various countries,R&D investment is the key factor for the development of Emerging Industries,industrial cluster is the main mode of the development of Emerging Industries,and there is an inherent relationship between innovation factors and industrial agglomeration.At present,China is in the critical stage of industrial transformation and upgrading.It is of great significance to explore the mechanism of R&D investment,Emerging Industry agglomeration and the development of Emerging Industries for the effective use of innovative resources,the promotion of the development of Emerging Industry agglomeration,and the promotion of sustainable development of Emerging Industries in China.Therefore,this paper analyses the interaction between innovation factors and industrial agglomeration by summarizing the industrial cluster theory,new growth theory and other existing research results,and puts forward three hypotheses of the relationship between R&D intensity,industrial agglomeration and the growth of Emerging Industries.And then,taking 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province as the research object to make an evolution analysis of the development status of Emerging Industries,finally constructs a threshold panel regression model based on the relevant data from 2011 to 2017 to verify the hypotheses.Through theoretical analysis and empirical research,the paper draws the following conclusions:(1)The R&D input intensity of Guangdong Province is not always positively promoting the growth of Emerging Industries,nor is it a simple linear relationship,but a triple threshold effect between them.When the R&D intensity is below 0.0023,there is a negative correlation between R&D intensity and the growth of emerging industries.When exceeds 0.0023,turn to positive.The positive effect is the weakest between 0.0023 and 0.0091,strongest between 0.0091 and 0.0219,second after exceeding 0.0219.(2)Under different industrial agglomeration levels,R&D intensity has different effects on the growth of Emerging Industries.When the industrial agglomeration index is lower than 0.6530,the promotion effect is strong.When between 0.6530 and 1.4330,the effect first weakens and then strengthens,and strongest after exceeding the threshold of 1.4330.Therefore,when formulating R&D factor input policies,the region should fully consider the regional industrial agglomeration and other factors input status to optimize resource allocation,and ensure the effective use of factors.Finally,this paper puts forward some suggestions from the aspects of rationally promoting the development of Emerging Industries and releasing the innovation vitality.
