Research On Grain Production Efficiency Of Henan Province Based On Comparative Perspective Of Six Provinces In Central China

"The country is based on the people,and the people take food as the sky".As a social necessity,food plays an irreplaceable role in the national stability and people's survival.Food production and security are the foundation of national economic development and social stability.To maintain long-term stability and sustainable development of society,we must first solve the food problem.However,China's agricultural production level is still relatively backward compared with the developed countries.According to customs data in 2017,China's total grain imports reached 132 million tons,and the food self-sufficiency rate dropped to 82.3%.86% of soybean demand depends on imports with an increasing trend year by year,which means that food production capacity in urgent needs improvement.The efficiency of grain production is a comprehensive reflection of the grain production capacity.It is an important basis for judging whether the input factors of grain production are fully utilized,and it is also the main factor affecting grain production.As a traditional agricultural province,Henan Province's grain production plays an important role in stabilizing China's grain reserves and ensuring food security.Based on the research situation at home and abroad and the current status of grain production in Henan Province,this paper takes the input and output data from 2000-2017 as the research index from the perspective of comparison between the six provinces in central China.The grain production efficiency was calculated by DEA-BCC and Malmquist index model,and the main factors affecting grain production in Henan Province were analyzed by Tobit model regression analysis,which shows that Henan Province has a strong grain output capacity,but the grain production efficiency is ranked lower in the six central provinces.The low scale efficiency is the main reason for the backward ranking.The grain planting area and the amount of pesticide used have a significant impact on the grain production efficiency of Henan Province.Only to continue to increase policy support,to improve agricultural management,to promote advanced scientific and technological achievements,and to rationally allocate input of factors,the efficiency of grain production in Henan Province can be moved up.There is a long way to go in food production.We must always maintain a sense of urgency,pay more attention on agricultural grain production in economic development,ensure food production safety,and promote social stability,so as to create a prosperous and strong country.
