Evolution Of Grain Production Structure Of Henan Province

A country is based on people and food is the first necessity of thepeople. Grain is not only an important strategic material that is beneficial to thepeople’s livelihood and national economic security, but also the people’s basic livingmaterials. National food security is concerning the sustainable development of acountry’s economic and political stability and social harmony. The nationalgovernment attaches great importance to food production and food security by havingissued many policies benefiting the agriculture to stabilize grain production andensure food security. Henan Province is the big province of grain production of thecountry’s and occupies an important position in the national grain production. It is notonly to safeguard the province the people’s demand for food, but also contribute to theprotection of national food security. Food production task is very difficult.In view of the Henan Province, an important position in the national grainproduction, this paper mainly through literature collection, data processing, methodsof combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis, on the basis of the relateddata of grain production of Henan Province from1978to2012, I has carried on therelated research. In this paper, the research contents mainly include: through thehistorical data collected from the grain sowing area and yield structure of HenanProvince changes, changes in production of regional structure of grain and thecomparison with the country, to analyze the evolution of structure of grain productionof Henan Province. Then is the analysis of the factors causing the evolution ofstructure of grain production of Henan Province and these factors influencing the foodproduction include market condition, consumer demand, production methods andtechnologies, the national policies. Next the development trends of the major graincrops of Henan Province were analyzed, including the analysis of development trendsof wheat, rice, corn, soybean and potato and other coarse cereals. Then is the analysisof effect on the structure changes of grain production in Henan Province, includingthe influence of the contribution to national food security, the impact on regionaleconomic development, impact on farmers’ income and the influence on theecological environment. The last part is the conclusion and suggestions.
