With the increasing demand for academic research, scientific research cooperation has became a common phenomenon in tourism disciplines of China, which is reflected in the increasing number of international publications of Chinese tourism scholars and many of the publications are co-authored articles.Research collaboration is a complex process with dynamic, relational and structural characteristics. As an important part of the academic community of tourism, the collaborations between tourism scholars reflects not only their own research tracks and the abilities to acquire social capital of them, but also the academic exchanges and relationship interactions between the academic community of tourism. The discussion of this topic is of great practical significance to enhance the academic influence of Chinese tourism scholars and promote the development of tourism discipline.Based on the 2,816 tourism academic articles in SSCI database rated journals between 1983 and 2017,tourism scholars' data databases and In-depth interview contents, combined with the social network and social exchange theory, the study explored the evolution, pattern and mechanism of co-authored networks of highperformance tourism scholars from the perspective of the dynamic evolution of social network.Research findings:1.The evolution of the co-authored networks of high-performance tourism scholars in China is characterized by stage and liquidity.(1)Based on the characteristics of co-author networks and scholars' background informations, the evolutions of collaboration networks of high performance scholars is discussed in detail according to three types: cenozoic, intermediate and pioneering.(2)The collaboration networks has experienced the evolution path from simple to complex, from faction independence to faction intersection, and from structure dispersion to concentration.Self-organized small groups are constantly replaced, and cooperative relationships change frequently.2.According to the heterogeneity of identity and geographical distance, there are four co-authorship patterns: teacher-student pattern, team pattern,cross-platform pattern and integrated pattern. The co-authors are embedded in the changing co-authors networks, and there are different dominant patterns in different research cooperation life cycles. Therefore,a general path for the evolution of the co-authors pattern of highperformance scholars is proposed.3.The multi-case studies were used to analyze the formation mechanism of the coauthor networks,(1)Taking the academic research career process of scholars as the main line of explanation and the establishment, maintenance and dissolution of coauthorship as the secondary line, this study elaborated the dynamic process of the evolution of the networks of scientific research co-authors combined with the content of in-depth interviews, and found that in the evolution of the co-author networks, the personal "networks of like-minded scholars" and the informal academic community of the discipline were formed.(2)By encoding the in-depth interview data, the "thrust","pull" and "intermediate obstacle factors" of the formation of scientific research coauthor networks were extracted, and the formation mechanism of co-author networks based on different modes were given.Based on the results, this paper puts forward the opinions from three aspects. The research suggests that scholars should actively establish high-quality personal scholar networks and focus on the research direction. The research teams should identify the division of work of the teams and be led by core leader. The universities and research institutes should attract more outstanding talents and attach importance to training academic leaders. This study analyzes the changes and evolution of the co-authored network structure from a dynamic perspective, which has made breakthroughs in the number of samples, time span and regions involved. In addition to enriching the theoretical connotation of related research,it also provides practical guidance for Chinese tourism scholars to improve their international academic influence,so as to promote the benign development of tourism in China.
