Since the reform and opening up,China's export trade has developed rapidly. However, due to the deep-rooted effect of the financial crisis in 2008,China's export growth has continued to slow in recent years. How to export more steadily becomes a hot topic in the current in academia. In the existing studies, scholars have examined the influencing factors of export trade from various perspectives, but the effect of institutions on export trade is often overlooked. In fact, due to the complexity of the international environment and the incompleteness of contract, importers' institutional quality is important to the development of China's export trade, and the effect of the institutional quality on export trade will vary with different industries. Therefore, based on the perspective of incomplete contracts, this thesis explores the effect of the importers' institutional quality on China's export trade from the industry level. This thesis includes five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, this chapter introduces the context and importance of this thesis, reviews the literature at home and abroad, expounds the research content and methods, and explains the innovation and shortcomings of this thesis. The second chapter is the theoretical mechanism. This chapter sorts out relevant concepts and theories.Based on this,we construct a theoretical model to analyze the internal mechanism of the effect of importers' institutional quality on China's export trade from the perspective of incomplete contract. The third chapter analyses the general situation of the main research objects in this thesis. It collects data and calculate relevant indicators, then we analyze the general situation of the importers' institutional quality and China's export trade. The fourth chapter is empirical research. This chapter builds a regression model and selects relevant indicators. Then we take the export trade data of 31 industries from China to 148 countries from 2002 to 2017 as samples, and use Spearman correlation coefficient,OLS,2SLS and GMM to analysis the effect of importers' institutional quality on china's export trade. The fifth chapter is the conclusion and policy suggestions. It summarizes the main conclusions of this thesis and puts forward relevant policy suggestions. The conclusions show that: Firstly, the improvement of importers' institutional quality exerts a positive effect on China's export volume of each industry, the higher the industrial contract intensity is,the greater the influence will be.In other words, industries with higher contract intensity are more sensitive to the change of the institutional quality, which makes China more inclined to export contract-intensive products to countries with better institutional quality.Secondly, compared with the country with lower institutional quality, the country with higher institutional quality has a greater positive effect on China's export trade.Compared with primary products, the improvement of the importers' institutional quality has a greater positive effect on China's export of manufactured goods.Based on the above conclusions, this thesis puts forward policy suggestions at the national and industry levels : we should comprehensively evaluate the institutional environment of all countries in the world, and select countries with higher institutional quality as export trading partners;we should strengthen policy communication among countries and create a good contractual environment to help Chinese export enterprises "go out";we also should pay attention to the dependence of each industry on the institutions, and then avoid export trade risks effectively.
