Small and medium-sized enterprises are the basic forces that promote employment,improve people's livelihood,stabilize the society,develop the economy and promote innovation,and constitute the largest and most dynamic group of enterprises in the market economy.However,due to the small and medium-sized enterprises in small scale,lack of management methods and resource constraints and other problems exist,this companies are facing enormous pressure in the global market competition.Therefore,SMEs need to seek effective scientific management technology to improve their operation level and market competitiveness.Lean production,originated from the TOYOTA production method,is regarded as one of the most advanced management technologies in the world and has been successfully applied in many large enterprises.Small and medium-sized enterprises are more flexible than large enterprises,so,they can adapt to new management ideas and methods more easily,and should pursue the application of lean production actively.Based on the characteristics of SMEs and the theory of lean production,a general model of building lean production system for small and medium-sized enterprises is established.The main contents are as follows:(1)Through literature review,the characteristics,the problems and challenges of SMEs in implementing lean production are summarized.Based on the latest research results and practical experience of lean production at home and abroad,a general model of lean system for small and medium-sized enterprises is put forward.The model points out that the lean production system of small and medium enterprises can be divided into three stages: infrastructure construction,lean improvement project practice and construction of Lean Enterprise under the concept of continuous improvement.(2)Taking T company as an example to verify the proposed model.According to the model,the Implementation process can be divided into three stages.First,Infrastructure construction.Established a learning organization to strengthen the study of theoretical knowledge and methods;carried out a comprehensive 6S field management,enhance the cohesion of the enterprise through full participation,to construct the foundation for the follow-up concrete lean improvement project practice.Second,Lean improvement project practice.Taking the production of the glass mercury of the company as an example,the value flow analysis is carried out,and the project of training multi-functional staffs was implemented to reduce the work-in-process inventory in the workshop and save the labor force.Third,continuous improvement.With constantly finding and solving problems,promoting organizational learning and implementing new lean improvement project practice.In the process of building the lean system,the enterprise has made clear the goalof reducing the cost and improving the efficiency.It has the ability to learn new method and tool and implement the lean improvement project by itself,both of the operation level and competitiveness of the company were improved.The results of the case study proved the effectiveness of the model.The model provides a reference for other small and medium-sized enterprises to apply lean production theory and build lean system.
