Asphalt is a one of key raw material for highway engineering construction.Its quality directly determines the quality of asphalt pavement engineering,and affects the performance and service life of asphalt pavement.A company mainly supplies asphalt materials for highway construction in Guangdong Province.In recent years,A company has been in many asphalt supply projects of highway construction with large supply scale.Quality controlling issues also occur frequently.Not only does A company have to bear huge economic losses and credit risks,but highway construction projects will also be delayed during the construction period,and will not be completed on time.Because of the significance use of asphalt materials,there are many links and reasons that lead to quality problems in the supply chain management of procurement,warehousing and transportation to the end customer.Therefore,through the scientific method of project management to study the quality problems of A company’s asphalt supply process,put forward the measures and methods that apply for A company’s asphalt supply management to fulfill quality and improvement measures,which has very important feasibility.This article analyzes the related to the concepts and tools of quality management in the context of supply chain through literature analysis,and then combs the specific process of asphalt supply frameworks of company A,and uses Pareto chart and data statistics methodalize to compare the company’s highway workload in the past three years.The quality problems(type,occurrence stage,frequency,etc.)generated by the asphalt supply project are statistically analyzed to analyze the consequences of quality problems(reputation impact,economic loss),which leads to the necessity of research and improvement on the quality management of asphalt supply of Company A.According to the principle of quality improvement PDCA cycle,through the establishment of quality improvement QC group,to determine the quality improvement issues and objectives,according to the " Pareto Law ",using Pareto chart for the quality problems of the company in the asphalt supply process in the past three years conduct an analysis to identify the main stages of the problem settlement,and combine the questionnaire survey method to conduct investigations from both the expert opinions and the experience of employees of relevant functions of the company A,and comprehensively consider the key factors that lead to quality problems at each working stage.Based on the key factors identified,the countermeasures are targeted,and the measurements are being analyzed.The implementation plan is developed using 5W1 H analysis method to ensure that the plan can be implemented appropriately.Finally,the relevant quality data after the implementation of the quality control plan of Company A was under collected,and compared with the past three years outcomes,it was verified that the quality improvement for project reached the predetermined target.The asphalt rejection rate of Company A has fallen to 0.057%,even lower than which was 0.1% expected.Through the implementation of the bitumen supply quality improvement activity in the expressway construction project of Company A,the quality management level of the bitumen supply chain of Company A has been improved,and the frequency of the bitumen quality problems in the main stages and the quantity of returns from the construction site have been greatly reduced.The direct marginal economic loss has been greatly reduced,and this quality improvement activity has achieved significant results.
