Study On The Influence Factor Of Growth And Shrinking In Resource-Based Cities

Along with the great change of global politics,economy and science,more and more local cities show the phenomenon of population outflow and economic stagnation due to the lack of endogenous power of growth.Resource-based cities in the Northeast present the development mode of co-existence of Growth and Shrinkage,which are affected by the depletion of resources and the marginalization of the city.Based on this,the paper selected two typical forest resource-based cities: Yichun and Baishan,calculated the urban comprehensive development level from population,economy and land index in urban scale.Compared the different conversion process between two cities from 2001 to 2016,and discussed the influence factors of this phenomenon.The research shows: Urban comprehensive development level of these two cities both have two stages,which grow in early period and decline in later period.Yichun shows shrinking for a long time,but Baishan just shows potential shrinking after 2010,so the overall urban development level of Yichun is lower than Baishan.The development process of Yichun is affected by the government investment and the industrial structure;Baishan is more dependent on the motive force and support given by the workers.In addition,The different natural area conditions,local industrial transformation and policy adjustment are the main causes of the difference in the process of urban growth and shrinking transformation.The full text is divided into six chapters.The main contents of each chapter are as follows:Chapter one: Giving the research background,research significance,research content and specific research framework.Chapter two: Summarizing the basic theories and concepts applied in this paper,including city shrinking,shrinking city,resource-based city and city life cycle of resource-based city,etc.and giving a detailed summary of the related researches at home and abroad,which plays a theoretical supporting role for the below analysis.Chapter three: Discussing the reasons for choosing Yichun and Baishan as research city,and giving natural situation and development status of these two cities,and giving the method and data applied in the following paper.Chapter four: Basing on Yichun and Baichuan's comparative data of population,economy and land from 2001 to 2016,the paper constructed the evaluation index to calculate the urban comprehensive development level of two cities,and draw the urban development curve.Distinguish growth,significant shrinking and potential shrinking by using the natural discontinuity point method,which is used to judge the urban development level of two cities and compare the difference characteristics between them.Chapter five: Based on the former research method,this paper chose 10 indexes from four aspects of industrial development,social vitality,infrastructure level and government investment to establish the index system of influencing factors.With the help of SIMCA-P software,partial least squares regression method was adopted to analyze the main influence factors of different urban development condition between Yichun and Baishan.In addition,using qualitative analysis as supplemental method for further discuss.Chapter six: Research conclusions and prospects.Summarizing the difference and influence factors in the process of urban growth and shrinking transformation between Yichun and Baishan,and giving improvement plans for the deficiency in future study.
