Research On The Governance Of China's Lithium Ion Battery Industry Based On SCP Paradigm

Since the beginning of the 21^st century,the world has witnessed rapid global economic growth yet with severer energy issues and ecological environment problems.In order to tackle with environmental problems,countries all over the world are making great efforts to develop low-carbon economy.Replacing fuel with electricity,the new-energy vehicle boosts the features of low carbon and environmental friendly,thus being regarded as one of the strategic emerging industries in China and the hot-land of low carbon economy.As a secondary battery,lithium-ion battery is the core component of the new energy vehicle,whose rapid growth has nurtured the development of lithium-ion battery industry.Against the changes of economic environment and competition landscape,lithium-ion battery has been commercialized and marched into the area of power and energy saving from consumer electronics.After over two decades'of development,China has become the main manufacturer and consumer of lithium-ion battery thanks to its national strengths.However,there are problems existing in the development of this industry such as structural over capacity,debt crisis between different entities,insufficient original innovation and fundamental innovation,which have severely hindered its sound and sustained development.Therefore,the dissertation aims to carry out research on the Lithium ion battery industry from the perspective of SCP paradigm,in order to explore the problems and causes of its development and relevant solutions.The dissertation is composed of the following contents:First,in order to better clear out the current condition of the lithium-ion battery industry,the dissertation is going to carry out researches from domestic and international perspectives respectively.On the one hand,market size,industrial structure,and regional distribution will be analyzed to illustrate the current condition of lithium-ion battery globally.On the other hand,industry scale,import and export trade,industrial structure and market landscape will be analyzed to illustrate the current situation of lithium-ion battery domestically.Second,by utilizing the SCP analysis paradigm of industrial organizational theory,the dissertation is going to analyze the market structure,behavior and performance of lithium-ion battery from various perspectives.After finishing analysis mentioned above,the thesis comes to a conclusion that the relations among market structure,behavior and performance of China's lithium-ion battery industry should be two-way or even multi-directional causality.It is based on such conclusion that the paper is able to discuss the current problems faced in the industry.Third,the paper has selected the lithium-ion battery industry of Japan and Republic of Korea as its objects of study,and analyzed their development modes comparatively.On the basis of learning from their strengths,it can be pointed out that though new products and technologies keep emerging in China's lithium-ion battery industry,there are huge gaps existing in technological innovation and industrial chains between China and the two countries.Therefore,the dissertation is going to put forward feasible suggestions to ensure sound development of China's lithium-ion battery industry.Fourth,taking NINGBO SHANSHAN CO.,LTD.,the leading enterprise of lithium-ion battery industry as an example,the paper has carried out researches on factors affecting the profitability of lithium-ion battery industry.On the basis of regression analysis of the relationship between the profitability of NINGBO SHANSHAN CO.,LTD.and the industry scale,it can be concluded that the lithium-ion battery industry enjoys obvious economic scale and that lithium-ion battery industry should pay close attention to the layout of the entire industry chain,expand industry scale,improve the efficiency of capital utilization,and increase its profitability.As the same time however,the principle of appropriateness should be emphasized to prevent over scale and over expansion.Finally,the dissertation puts forward suggestions from the perspectives of government,behavior organizations and enterprises to address existing problems in the industry of lithium-ion battery.To be more specific,government should optimize relevant rules and regulations,adopt the strategy of helping the strong,formulate safety detection regulations to tackle with battery safety hidden risks,improve the recycling system,and establish an innovation platform that synergizes the efforts of government,industry,research institutions and universities.Industry organizations should active actions to promote technological innovation and development,build up public service platform of the industry,and earnestly perform monitoring function.Enterprises of the lithium-ion battery industry should make great efforts to improve innovation capacity,reduce cost from various channels,give priority to the layout of industrial chain,and strengthen coordination and cooperation of enterprises to generate competitive edge.
