For traditional retail enterprises,the performance management system is generally set in the back-end management department However,the performance management conducted by terminal store managers is either unsound or unreasonable.Indeed,a large number of enterprises fail to build a performance management system for terminal store managers.Store managers,as a basic unit of traditional retail trade,are of greater importance.Although the branch where the author works has built a manager performance management system,it is plagued by multiple issues,which not only impair the enthusiasm of store managers,but hinder achievement of enterprise goals.Hence,it is of great significance to study the optimization of manager performance management system.This paper expounded on the theoretical knowledge of four processes,namely performance planning,performance coaching and communication,performance evaluation and application of performance results in the performance management system,and clarified specific contents of each process.Then,it employed the questionnaire survey method to reveal managers' satisfaction with the performance management system,and adopted the case analysis method to analyze the relevant issues.Based on the theoretical knowledge of performance management,this paper identified issues such as unreasonable performance evaluation items,absence of performance coaching and communication,lack of effective performance evaluation process,and ineffective application of performance results.In light of these existing issues,the author found it extremely urgent to optimize the performance management system for managers in the company.Based on the theory of performance management,the author used the key performance indicator method(KPI)and forced distribution method to optimize the manager performance management process item by item,and formulated the implementation plan and guarantee measures of the performance management system.Finally,this paper reached some conclusions and enlightenment from the process of elaborating theories,identifying issues,proposing solutions and solving problems.Although there are still some deficiencies,this paper focused on the optimization of the manager performance management system,which is of great significance to the development of traditional retail enterprises and may also serve as a reference for the optimization of the traditional retail performance management system.
