Most manufacturing companies in China have long relied on low-cost advantages.Due to their low innovation capacity and weak core technologies, they are at the low end of the global value chain and urgently need transformation and upgrading. With the transformation of the product economy to the service economy, servitization has become a key path for the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. The service transformation of the manufacturing industry means that companies shift from traditional production-oriented to service-oriented,carry out service innovation activities, and develop new models of product and service integrationServitization is an internal entrepreneurial action of manufacturing enterprises,as well as a process of reshaping resources and capabilities. In the process of transforma-tion,there will be various challenges in the face of new and unfamiliar fields. Is there a reasonable solution to the lack of knowledge, and what can the entrepreneurial orientation of pursuing innovation,risk-taking,and proactiveness bring to the company?Based on the above issues, this paper builds a framework from entrepreneurial orientation to external knowledge acquisition to service transformation performance, and considers the role of corporate absorptive capacity,in order to reveal the impact mechanism of entrepreneurial orientation on manufacturing service-oriented transformation performance. This paper constructs a model of "entrepreneurship-oriented--external knowledge acquisition--service-oriented transformation performance".Through multiple regression analysis on the data of 209 manufacturing companies, this paper confirms that the innovative,risk-taking,and proactive entrepreneurial orientation of manufacturing companies can positively affect the performance of service-oriented transformation through external knowledge acquisition.External knowledge acquisition can be an effective strategy for manufacturing enterprises to cope with the lack of knowledge resources in the process of transformation, and it can also create favorable conditions for enterprises to explore new markets. The study also confirms the moderating role of absorptive capacity and extends the boundary conditions that affect the relationship between external knowledge acquisition and the performance of enterprise service transformation.Absorptive capacity is not only the bridge between external knowledge acquisition and service transformation performance, but also a catalyst for entrepreneurial orientation to influence the performance process of service-oriented transformation through external knowledge acquisition. The research results have certain enlightenment for the service transformation of manufacturing industry.Enterprises must fully recognize the importance of entrepreneurial orientation, continue to pursue innovation, dare to act and bear risks, and attach great importance to the accumulation of knowledge, proactively invest resources to obtain effective knowledge from the outside world, improve absorptive capacity, and merge the knowledge acquired from the outside world with the original knowledge to develop innovative products and services, achieve the success of service-oriented transformation.
