Research On The Relationship Between Entrepreneur's Temporal Distance And Opportunity Exploitation

The opportunity exploitation model is a decision-making method for entrepreneurs to allocate resources to grasp business opportunities.It not only deternines whether new ventures can successfully grasp new business opportunities,but also affects the survival and development of new ventures,especially in the current complex entrepreneurial environment.What kind of opportunity exploitation model an entrepreneur chooses has an important role to play in the success of entrepreneurship.From the perspective of entrepreneurial cognition,some scholars have shown that successful entrepreneurs will demonstrate the cognitive and thinking ability that is more conducive to the face and use of highly uncertain entrepreneurial situations,so explore the recognition behind successful entrepreneurs,entrepreneurial behaviors.Knowing the causes and mechanisms began to attract the attention and respect of entrepreneurial scholars.As a pure cognitive orientation theory,the Construct Level Theory is a good interpretation of the internal mechanism of entrepreneurs to make different entrepreneurial behaviors based on the particularity of entrepreneurial situations.At present,the study of the Construct Level Theory mainly focuses on the dimension of temporal distance,and some scholars have carried out related research on entrepreneurs on the concept of temporal distance.However,today's scholars do not have a clear explanation mechanism of whether the temporal distance can influence the choice of entrepreneurs' opportunity exploitation model and how to influence the exploitation.Based on the above theoretical and practical background,this study explores the impact of entrepreneurs on the opportunity exploitation model from the perspective of the time between the opportunity evaluation and the opportunity exploitation,that is,from the perspective of entrepreneurial cognition.Based on the Construct Level Theory,this paper discusses the mediating mechanism of creativity and the possible moderating effect of environmental dynamics in the process mechanism of temporal distance impacting opportunity exploitation model.In this study,entrepreneurs of new ventures were selected as survey objects.A total of 193 valid samples were collected through questionnaire survey.SPSS25.0 software and Mplus7.4 software were used to analyze the questionnaire data,and the research hypothesis was tested.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Temporal distance will positively affect innovative opportunity exploitation,negatively impact Imitative opportunity Exploitation;(2)Temporal distance will positively affect creativity;(3)Creativity will positively affect innovative opportunity exploitation and will negatively influence the imitative opportunity exploitation;(4)Creativity will play a full intermediary role between temporal distance and innovative opportunity exploitation,and partially mediate between time distance and imitative opportunity exploitation(5)Environmental dynamics will negatively moderating the influence of temporal distance on creativity,that is,the higher the environmental dynamics,the smaller the positive influence of temporal distance on creativity;(6)Environmental dynamics negatively effect of mediating mechanism of creativity.This research enriches the theoretical research in the field of entrepreneurial cognition through empirical methods.It reveals the "black box" of the relationship between temporal distance and opportunity exploitation model from the perspective of Construct Level Theory and Planning Behavior Theory.It also provides some opportunities for entrepreneurs.Suggestions for reference:Extend the time interval between opportunity evaluation and opportunity exploitation to enhance the creativity of entrepreneurs;when choosing the opportunity exploitation model,consider environmental factors and choose the right time to exploit opportunity.Finally,this study points out the shortcomings in the research and looks forward to future research.
