Structural Power Of Agricultural Transnational Corporations In The Context Of Economic Globalization

Since the Sino-U.S.trade conflict broke out in 2018,the issue of agricultural trade has become a focus.China is a country with a big population,and limited per capita arable land area.So food security issue is very important.Especially in recent years,the year-on-year increase in China’s grain imports has made agricultural transnational corporations a non-negligible non-state actor in the world.Agricultural multinational corporations have gained great power in the current international political and economic power due to the control of the global food production,processing,transportation and sales chain.In this context,it is necessary to study the agricultural transnational companies’ structural power.This thesis focuses on agricultural transnational corporations.With the help of Susan Strange’s structural power theory,writer will classify and explain the structural power of agricultural multinational corporations.At the same time,writer will revise the problems existing in Strange’s previous research.On the other hand,the emerging characteristics are summarized to improve the research results of structural power theory of agricultural transnational corporations.Finally,this article will put forward corresponding suggestions for the development of Chinese agricultural corporations.This article mainly uses research methods of literature research,comparative analysis.In addition to the introduction of Chapter one,it mainly includes six parts.The first part mainly introduces the concepts mainly involved in the article,including economic globalization and the main situation and previous research results of agricultural transnational corporations.It also includes the structural power theory of Susan Strange.The second to fifth part mainly analyze the specific characteristics and performance of structural power owned by agricultural transnational corporations from the four ways(E.g.security structure,production structure;financial structure and knowledge structure).An inductive summary of previous theories,combined with the new changes brought about by economic globalization,to evaluate and amend Strange’s structural power theory.Writer will focus on the exploration of new structural power sources and access methods owned by agricultural transnational corporations,so as to provide guidance for the sustainable development of agricultural corporations in China.
