The Influence Of Import Technology Complexity Of China's Productive Services Trade On The International Competitiveness Of The Manufacturing Industry

Driven by the advantages of cheap labor,preferential land policies,and low environmental costs,China's manufacturing industry has achieved rapid development.However,China's manufacturing industry is still at the low end of the global value chain,the added value of products is generally low,the core technology is scarce,and there are unreasonable structures.As an intermediate input factor,productive services can provide manufacturing with a wealth of specialized knowledge and technology and have become an indispensable driving factor for the manufacturing industry to enhance its international competitiveness.Under such background,this article explores its impact on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry from a new perspective of the technical complexity of the import of productive services trade.By using data from China,and taking into account the heterogeneity of the productive service industry and the heterogeneity of the manufacturing industry,this article makes a relatively comprehensive comparative study.First,this paper analyzes the effect mechanism of the technical complexity of productive service trade imports on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry from the perspective of direct effects and indirect effects.Second,it illustrates the current status of China's productive service trade imports based on the scale,structureand technical complexity of imports.Then,the empirical part uses the feasible generalized least squares method to empirically explore the impact of the technical complexity of China's productive services trade import on the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry from the overall and sub-industry levels.The following conclusions are made: in terms of productive services trade as a whole,the technological complexity of imported products has a positive impact on the international competitiveness of manufacturing industries,of which the high-tech intensive manufacturing industry has been most affected;From the perspective of the sub-industry of productive service trade,the technical complexity of imports of different types of industries has a positive role in promoting the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry,and low-tech productive services have the greatest effect.Finally,based on the results of my study,the following four suggestions are proposed: optimize the import structure of productive services trade;break the market access mechanism and reduce barriers to service imports;increase the utilization rate of imported high-tech productive services;expand investment promotion,and increase funding in research and development,as well as talent training.
