Analysis And Suggestions On The Current Situation Of Rural Tourism Developmentin Tongzhou District Of Nantong

In recent years,the booming rural tourism in China has become an important measure to address issues on agriculture,rural areas,and rural residents as well as an effective way of targeted poverty alleviation.Therefore,expanding rural tourism contributes to China's efforts on revitalizing rural areas and building up a moderately prosperous society.Generally,the rural tourism at home and abroad combines primary and tertiary industries,and some developed countries such as Japan and France even engage secondary industry into it,making rural tourism a favorable mode to jointly foster primary,secondary and tertiary industries.Rural tourism enjoys vast geographic space including suburbs,outskirts and countryside where tourists can feel leisure and tranquil that are hardly found in their city lives,helping people to keep fit.Prioritizing rural tourism is conducive to extending agricultural production and processing chain;restructuring rural undertaking,protecting rural environment and cultural legacy;creating more channels to increase rural residents' income.Tongzhou District,Nantong City,Jiangsu Province enjoys a good geographical location,growing economy and high urbanization.However,the development of its tourism including rural tourism falls behind other districts of Nantong City and even those of Jiangsu Province.Moreover,residents in a few areas in Tongzhou District mainly rely on agricultural production as their main source of income.Rural tourism has contributed to the rise of farmers' income,but the effect is not obvious.At the beginning of this thesis,the connotation of rural tourism is sorted out followed by summaries and comparisons of rural tourism development histories and modes among representative countries and regions at home and abroad.After literature research,interviews,and field visits,the development foundation and current situation of rural tourism in Nantong and Tongzhouare summarized and the development trend and resource advantages of rural tourism within this region are analyzed.In this thesis,there are ideas and practices on how to overcome the restrictions and problems of rural tourism in Tongzhou.In line with the philosophies of "tourist attraction" and "rural tourism+"and the priorities of Tongzhou government,new working methods relevant to culture,projects,brands,activities,CPC construction,talent preference,ticket flexibility,and policy support are suggested to interpret the purposes,content and waysof Tongzhou's rural tourism and to sustain its development going forward.
