With the development of positive psychology,leader humor as a kind of"people-oriented" leadership has been paid attention by organizational scholars.As an organizational management tool,leader humor is more beneficial to the competition and sustainable development of enterprises,but the empirical research on the dynamic variation of leader humor and its influence mechanism needs to be examined.Therefore,based on conservation of resources theory and affective events theory,this study explores the dynamic relationship among leader humor,employee positive affect and employee job performance at within-individual level,as well as the cross-level moderation role of family motivation at between-individual level.In this study,seventy five employees from different industries participates this experience-sampling study across 10 working days.The results showed that:(1)Daily leader humor is positively related to daily employee positive affect and daily employee job performance;(2)Daily employee positive affect is positively related to daily employee job performance;(3)Daily employee positive affect indirectly mediates the relationship between daily leader humor and daily employee job performance;(4)Family motivation cross-level moderates the relationship between daily employee positive affect and employee job performance,such that when employee family motivation is lower,the positive correlation between employee positive affect and their daily job performance is stronger;(5)Family motivation cross-level moderates the indirect effect of employee positive affect,such that when employee family motivation is lower,the indirect effect of daily employees positive affect is stronger.Therefore,this study first verifies that under the Chinese enterprise environment,leader humor promotes employee job performance.Secondly,it clarifies the internal mechanism and boundary conditions of leader humor influencing employee job performance.Finally,according to the results of the study,it provides some specific implementation suggestions for enterprise organization management.
