The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated that "accelerating the construction of a strong manufacturing country and accelerating the development of advanced manufacturing".China’s manufacturing industry has been double-squeezed by emerging economies actively undertaking industrial transfer and re-industrialization in developed countries,and its own advantages,especially its price and cost advantages,have continued to weaken.To move toward a world manufacturing powerhouse,China needs to lay a solid foundation in two ways: one is to increase total factor productivity,and the other is to enhance innovation capabilities.It is for this reason that the country has attached great importance to the improvement of total factor productivity and innovation capability of the manufacturing industry in recent years.Among the factors that affect the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,the impact of the logistics industry cannot be ignored.From the perspective of logistics industry agglomeration,it plays an important role in improving the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry and largely affects the development of the manufacturing industry.Logistics industry agglomeration is not only conducive to improving the efficiency of the logistics industry itself,it also helps to comprehensively improve the logistics services of the manufacturing industry,improve and optimize the operating mode of the manufacturing industry,and thus improve the manufacturing efficiency and promote the development of the manufacturing industry.This is also an important reason for the government to promote the joint development of manufacturing and logistics.The paper summarizes the influential factors,measurement methods and empirical analysis of the relationship between logistics industry agglomeration and total factor productivity in the manufacturing industry.First,it qualitatively analyzes the development status of China’s logistics industry and manufacturing industry;second,through the spatial Gini coefficient And improvement location quotient to measure the agglomeration of the logistics industry in China as a whole and in each province,and to analyze the spatial autocorrelation of the logistics industry agglomeration in each province,and then use the Malmquist index in DEA to measure China in detail The total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry;Finally,create an empirical model based on the dynamic panel model theory to test the relationship between China’s logistics industry agglomeration and the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry,and put forward suggestions to promote the increase of the total factor productivity of China’s manufacturing industry.The research shows that: First,from 2005 to 2017,most of the logistics industry improvement location quotient indicators of various provinces and cities in China fluctuated significantly.The eastern coastal region showed a volatility downward trend,the central and northwestern regions showed a volatility upward trend,and the southwestern region showed a volatility decline trend.According to the spatial autocorrelation analysis,the overall concentration of China’s logistics industry is basically stable,but there is a certain degree of positive autocorrelation between the logistics industries in various provinces and cities.It can be seen from the local spatial autocorrelation analysis that most provinces and cities in China are still in a weakly agglomerated spatial distribution state.Highly agglomerated provinces have not played a leading role and produced polarization effects,and expansion effects have not yet appeared.Second,the overall factor productivity growth index of China’s overall manufacturing industry showed a slight decline,because the pure technology and scale effect indexes in the same period showed a negative growth trend.In addition,the technological progress index showed an upward trend.Specific to the region,it was found that the average total factor productivity growth index of 31 provinces and cities were all greater than 1,which achieved growth.Analyzing different regions,we know that the average TFP growth index of manufacturing industry is west,middle and east from left to right.Third,the total factor productivity of China’s manufacturing industry has a significant path dependence effect.The increase in the concentration of the logistics industry has played a significant role in promoting the production level of China’s manufacturing industry and promoting the production efficiency of the manufacturing industry,but it has no obvious effect on technological progress.
