This paper analyzes the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics and competition state of inbound tourism in Shanxi Province based on the tourist arrivals and foreign exchange income from2008 to 2017.For the analysis of the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of inbound tourism in Shanxi Province,this paper studies the dynamic changes of the number of inbound tourists and the foreign exchange income of inbound tourism in prefecture-level cities from 2008 to 2017 in Shanxi Province from dimensions of time and space.Mainly through the calculation results of the indexes which are the visiting rate of inbound tourists,income ratio,inter-annual concentration index,the dynamic degree of inbound tourists,geographical concentration index and coefficient of variation,this paper reflects the spatial and temporal characteristics of the prefecture-level cities in Shanxi province in receiving inbound tourists,and comes to a conclusion.For the analysis of the competition state of inbound tourism in Shanxi Province,based on the basic theory of the two-indexes combination of market share and market growth rate,namely the competitive state model of tourism market,this paper analyzes the types of the inbound tourism market in the prefecture-level cities of ShanxiProvince from three aspects: the number of inbound tourists,the foreign exchange income and the per capita consumption of inbound tourism and gets the corresponding conclusions.Finally,four main conclusions are summarized.In terms of the temporal and spatial distribution,the inbound tourist arrivals and foreign exchange earnings of the prefecture-level cities in Shanxi Province tend to be concentrated in 2012 and 2013 in time,and in the prefecture-level cities of Taiyuan,Jinzhong and Datong in space.In terms of competition state,Taiyuan,Jinzhong and Datong have obvious advantages in the types of inbound tourism markets for the number of inbound tourists and foreign exchange earnings of the prefecture-level cities in Shanxi Province,as far as the per capita consumption of inbound tourism in the prefecture-level cities of Shanxi Province is concerned,the types of inbound tourism markets in Taiyuan,Datong and Jincheng are obviously superior to those in the other cities.In view of these conclusions this paper discusses the concrete reasons and provides the development suggestions.
