In 1980,EMS of China Post Office carried out the global postal express delivery service,and provided the domestic express delivery service four years later.EMS acted as a precedent of the express delivery industry in mainland China.Since then,the express delivery industry has emerged and has become a representative of the new economy and an important force for economic development in the context of the rapid development of e-commerce,.The research on the express industry in the academic circles mainly focuses on the overall status quo,the structure of the express delivery market,the influencing factors of the development of the express delivery industry,and the development trend and direction of the express delivery industry.There is still a shortage of research on the space market power of the express delivery industry.As a monopolistic competition market,the express delivery market faced the both monopolistic factors and fierce competition.In order to explore the market performance of the express delivery industry and the degree of market competition,this paper introduces the concept of space market power.First of all,this paper uses the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze the development characteristics of China's express delivery industry,market concentration,regional layout of express delivery industry and the industry barriers.Secondly,the demand elasticity model and the space market power model based on the national express delivery industry are used to measure the space market power of China's express delivery industry.On this basis,the spatial gravity model was modified based on the space market power values measured by the twomodels to explore the spatial connection and spatial evolution pattern of the market power in the express delivery industry.Finally,this paper uses a multiple regression model to explore the factors that influence the space market power based on previous research,and puts forward relevant suggestions to promote the healthy development of China's express delivery industry.The main findings of this paper are as follows.(1)The space market power of China's express delivery industry is rising at the national level.,but the development of various regions in China is unbalanced.The spatial difference phenomenon of the express delivery industry is relatively obvious and has typical dual characteristics.The express delivery market is heterogeneous,with its space market power concentrated in western and northeastern China.By contrast,the space market power in eastern and central China is relatively weak.Therefore,the space market power in most economically developed regions is weak and the competitive environment is better;in most economically underdeveloped regions,the space market power is stronger and the competitive environment is poor.(2)The demand elasticity model and the spatial market force model based on the national express delivery industry show that the spatial linkage pattern is centered on the eastern region,the central region,and some western regions near the central region,radiating to the marginal regions,and the space market power of China's express delivery industry.The change in the spatial difference of power has become more apparent with the advancement of time.The space market power of the express industry has been strengthened in developed regions and weakened in underdeveloped regions.The strength of the spatial relationship shown by the demand elasticity model measurement results first weakens and then increases,while the strength of the spatial connection shown by the national express space market power model measurement results gradually increases.(3)Based on the analysis of the influencing factors of the space market power of the express delivery industry,it has concluded that the human resources,information technology development level,transportation infrastructure level,industrial base level,and economic base level.In order to make full use of China's factor endowment and spatial heterogeneity,and promote the coordinated development of express delivery industry in various regions,this paper proposes corresponding countermeasures as follows.(1)The government focuses on the needs of industry talents and implements internal introduction and external training strategies.(2)The government needs to fully understand the market base and formulate different policies according to the situationsin different regions.(3)The government needs to promote the accelerated integration of the express delivery industry to achieve cross-regional and cross-border linkage.(4)The government needs to formulate and implement reasonable policies and improve the industrial innovation system.The theoretical significance of this research not only expands the research of space market power,but also enriches the research content of China's express delivery industry.From a practical point of view,this study provides a scientific basis and decision-making suggestions for the space optimization of the express delivery industry and the orderly development of the market.
