Today,China's economic growth model has been changing from a factor-driven to innovation-driven type.It has become the consensus of the whole society to promote high-quality economic and social developmentdepending on scientific and technological innovation.Currently,the development of the Yangtze River Economic Zone should be prioritized as it is the most significant tasks,and therefore how to deal with incapability and imbalance of scientific innovation,boost the development of Yangtze River Economic Zone is critical.The report objective is to analyze the innovation capability of Yangtze River Economic Zone.As it can enrich the theoretical system of regional scientific and technological innovation capabilities,as well aspushtherelevant government departments to formulate scientific and technological innovation guidelines and policies,promoting the construction of an innovative country in China.Based on related theories such as innovation theory,regional innovation and cluster innovation,this paper systematically sorts out the connotation and mechanism of regional scientific and technological innovation capability,and builds scientific and technological innovation input,scientific and technological innovation output,infrastructure environment,market environment,and human ecological environment.The six-dimensional science and technology innovation capability evaluation index system including scientific and technological innovation efficiency measures the comprehensive level of science and technology innovation capability and the six-dimensional level of 108 prefecture-level and above cities in the Yangtze River Economic Zone since 2008,and uses Geoda software.Spatial auto correlation analysis of scientific and technological innovation capability of the Yangtze River Economic Zone was conducted to reveal the characteristics of the temporal and spatial evolution of scientific and technological innovation capability of the Yangtze River Economic Zone and their advantages and disadvantages in these six dimensions.Based on this,a spatial econometric model is introduced to select six factors: economic development level,laborer quality,regional economic structure,degree of opening up,infrastructure level,and enterprise scale.The factors and spatial differences that affect regional scientific and technological innovation capability are further analyzed.The research results show that the overall level of scientific and technological innovation capacity of the Yangtze River Economic Zone is relatively low and relatively stable.The three short-legged constraints of scientific and technological innovation input,scientific and technological innovation output,and market environment are more prominent;the differences between cities have narrowed but are still relatively large.The low-spatial pattern remains unchanged;the leading cities' scientific and technological innovation status is prominent,and the central cities such as provincial capitals play an obvious role;the regional spatial correlation is constantly increasing,and the "high-high" and "low-low" clustering characteristics appear,and the space spillover effect is obvious.The influence of regional economic structure,labor quality,infrastructure level,and enterprise size on the technological innovation capability of 108 cities in the Yangtze River Economic Zone were all significantly positive.Besides,the factors such as the level of economic development and the degree of opening to the outside world failed to pass the significance level test.However,there are some differences in the factors affecting the performance of the three major plates in the upper,middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Zone.Therefore,it is recommended that Yangtze River Economic Zone should strengthen the advantages and make up disadvantage,improving the scientific and technological capabilities.Besides,major cities,such as municipalities and capitals should cooperate with leading cities,and work on improving the overall regional scientific and technological innovation.More importantly,taking implementation simultaneously,enhancing the regional scientific and technologic innovation.And make differentiated strategic to promote the coordinated development of scientific and technological innovation in the upper,middle and lower reaches.
