Urban land is an indispensable space carrier for the exchange and interaction of urban economic and social factors. However, with the rapid progress of urbanization, the contradiction between land supply and demand has intensified, and the phenomenon of idle land and waste has become serious. The contradiction between land supply and demand in China and the status quo of land use in our country determine that urban development cannot blindly rely on the unrestricted extension of urban construction land, and must follow the "efficient, intensive, and economical" internal potential road.Land price is the economic performance of land resource market allocation. It can sensitively reflect changes in supply and demand in the land market and play a role in adjusting land use methods and land intensity, thereby affecting urban land use efficiency. On the other hand, the improvement of urban land use efficiency will also bring the improvement of land use efficiency and further promote the development of land market, which will also have an impact on land prices. Therefore,it is of great theoretical significance to study the interaction between urban land use efficiency and land price. The Yangtze River Economic Belt spans the three regions of east, middle and west of China. The economic development in the region is uneven, the overall efficiency of resource allocation is not high, and the land use level is quite different. And interaction research can fully reveal the evolution of land prices and urban land use efficiency in the region and the interaction impact differences, and provide a reference for regional land use management and easing land use contradictions, which has important practical significance. This paper takes 110 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the sample research unit.Based on the comprehensive urban land price and super-efficiency SBM model, this paper conducts research on the spatiotemporal evolution of urban comprehensive land price and urban land use efficiency. The coupling relationshipbetween the two is discussed by the Granger causality test in the Panel Vector Autoregressive Model(P-VAR).The relationship between the two is analyzed by impulse response and variance decomposition. Finally, proposed corresponding policy recommendations based on the differences in coupling coordination and interaction. The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)In terms of the spatio-temporal evolution of urban land prices, the overall level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is relatively low but the growth rate is fast, showing a change pattern of “overall rise, rapid growth in the first and last periods, and slow rise in the middle period ”;the law of spatial differentiation is obvious but the gap gradually shrinking and forming high-value downstream areas centered on Shanghai and Jiangsu, upstream high-value areas centering on Chengdu,Kunming,Chongqing and low-value areas on the middle reaches of Wuhan and Nanchang, but with the comprehensive land price level the overall rise, the trend of "shrinking" in low-value areas is obvious, and the regional gap is gradually narrowing. In terms of spatial correlation, during the study period, urban land prices showed a weak agglomeration and distribution trend globally;local homogeneity was strong, and prefecture-level cities belonging to the "low-low" type were dominant, and this type of area was mainly distributed in Guizhou Eastern Province and Western Hunan Province.(2)Regarding the spatio-temporal evolution of urban land use efficiency, the overall level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is not high but showing a tendency of fluctuations. The skewness coefficient indicates that the research units with lower efficiency values account for a larger proportion, but continue to decrease in number;the spatial differentiation is obvious In general,low-value areas centered on the middle reaches and high-value areas centered on upstream and downstream areas have been formed. However,as inefficient cities continue to "shrink",the overall efficiency rises, and the regional gap gradually narrows. In terms of spatial correlation, during the study period, the urban land use efficiency showed a weak agglomeration and distribution situation globally, but the spatial spillover effect was not obvious. It is necessary to further strengthen the role of the radiation of the central city in the region;the local stability is poor, and the overall the "high-high" and "low-low" types are the main types. The former are mainly distributed in the downstream coastal areas with developed economies and strong regional synergies, while the latter are mostly distributed in the upper and middle regions.(3)In terms of the interactive impact of urban land price and land use efficiency,on the whole of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the increase in land price can promote the improvement of land use efficiency, while the promotion of land use efficiency has a weakerrole in promoting urban land price increase. All have a two-way causality, but the interactions differ significantly.Although a well-coordinated urban comprehensive land price and urban land use efficiency have a two-way causal relationship, the increase in urban land price has little effect on the improvement of urban land use efficiency. The increase in urban land use efficiency will in turn inhibit the rise of urban land prices. The increase in land prices of basic coordinated cities and mildly distorted cities has a stronger effect on the improvement of urban land use efficiency.Although the improvement of urban land use efficiency has a positive effect on the increase of urban land prices,it has a weak effect. While the causal relationship between comprehensive land prices and urban land use efficiency in severely unequal cities is not as significant as in the other three types of cities, the increase in comprehensive land prices will have a positive effect on land use efficiency, and the rougher land use methods of such cities rising land prices have played a restrictive and hindering role.(4)In terms of policy recommendations, for well-coordinated cities, the existing urban land use efficiency improvement path should be followed, the stimulating effect of exogenous shocks on urban land use efficiency should be increased, and a long-term mechanism for improving urban land use efficiency should be established;Control land prices to prevent excessive land prices from inhibiting urban land use efficiency. For basic coordinated cities, while relying on the inertia trend to improve urban land use efficiency and urban land price,we should gradually get rid of the path-locking model of land price for urban land use efficiency improvement, and consider the impact of exogenous shocks on urban land use efficiency. For cities with mild maladjustment, the trend of increasing urban land prices and urban land use efficiency should be maintained, and the role of urban land prices in promoting the improvement of urban land use efficiency should be brought into full play. For severely disordered cities, while changing the way to improve urban land use efficiency,it is also necessary to further promote land marketization reforms in order to effectively play the role of urban land prices in promoting urban land use efficiency.
