Harvey's Theory Of Uneven Space Development And Its Reference To Contemporary China

Since the late 1960 s,in the face of the general urban crisis,Western Marxist researchers have implanted the spatial dimension into the Marxist theoretical system.At this point,space has become an indispensable dimension of Marxist research.American scholar David Harvey has formed a unique and innovative theory of spatial imbalance development through the investigation and research of space behavior and space policy on a global scale.Through the analysis of Harvey's uneven space development theory,this paper highlights the unique interpretation of Harvey's theory on space,and draws on the rational part of its theory to apply to the investigation and analysis of current Chinese urban issues to better promote the development of urbanization in China.The theory of uneven space development is gradually built on the basis of the study of the imbalance of capitalism.When Harvey explores the underlying causes of the formation of unbalanced geographical phenomena,starting from the two levels of“scale production of space”and“production geographical differences ”,it shows the diversity and complexity of unbalanced space production,and the spatial means of capitalism.-"time-space compression" and "time-space repair" further exacerbated the imbalance.Harvey uses materialist dialectics and political economics as his fundamental methodology,interprets and judges various ideas about spatial genres,and proposes a "unified field theory" with meta-theoretical appeals.The "unified field theory" is analyzed from the two main lines of capital and rights.Capital logic is the initiator of the geographical expansion of capitalism.It is inseparable from the promotion of power in the pursuit of capital.Power logic can be excavated under the catalysis of capital logic.With extension,capital and rights intertwined and interacted,uneven space phenomena were created.Harvey not only stayed at the explanation and criticism,but also proposed useful suggestions and countermeasures on how to change the uneven situation and realize spatial justice.Through the reconstruction of Utopia ideals,Harvey integrates his geography theory into the framework of Marxist liberation politics,thus realizing the ultimate appeal of his theory.Harvey's analysis of space has certain reference significance for the development of urbanization in contemporary China.With the reform and opening policy up for forty years,China's urbanization movement has developed rapidly,and it has achieved great achievements and inevitably some problems.This has a certain relationship with the market orientation of reform.Nowadays,socialismwith Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.Under the guidance of Xi Jinping ' s socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era,how to better play the role of government and market,promote the healthy development of Chinese cities and benefit all the Chinese people has become a major and urgent issue for us.It is also the most important theoretical and practical concern of this paper...
