In the context of economic globalization,internationalization is not only a strategic choice but also the key to the survival and development of the enterprises,especially those high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs)which focus on research and development(R&D).In order to achieve stable and sustainable development and become internationally competitive enterprises,high-tech SMEs need to participate in fierce international competition to seize domestic and foreign markets by following international leading technologies,even trying to innovate and lead industrial standards.In recent years,in the process of the transformation from "Made in China" to "Innovated in China",a number of outstanding high-tech SMEs have emerged in the country.They explore in innovation actively,and strive to create their own core technologies and change the international image of China's independent R&D products.However,compared with large or state-owned enterprises,high-tech SMEs' capital,technology and talent are all at a disadvantage.Coupled with the limited international experience,their internationalization trips are particularly bumpy and tortuous.Nowadays,the international circumstance is complex.It is particularly urgent and important to explore suitable international market entry mode for such enterprises.By learning other scholars' research on the internationalization motivations,the international market entry modes and their effect factors,this paper takes a typical local high-tech SME Company M as the research object,analyzing its situation and matching appropriate entry modes for its four operation situations which are generated from the SWOT analysis,then to deal with Company M's predicaments during its internationalization process,which includes:(1)Developing distributors for building brand image in the scenario of strength + opportunities(SO);(2)OEM customization exporting in the strengths + threats(ST)scenario;(3)Indirect exports through foreign trade companies in the weaknesses + opportunities(WO)situation;(4)Form a strategic alliance to jointly break through the market in the weaknesses + threats(WT)situation.By cooperating with specific tactical steps,the successful entry could lay a good foundation for its future international operation and ensure the sustainable and stable development of the company.At the same time,it is hoped that this study can provide valuable reference for internationalization practices of the same type enterprises.
